I'm not sure where this West Ham opinion that they failed to strengthen after selling Payet comes from.

Payet was lightyears ahead of that club, players like him grace clubs like that once in a generation. How could they possibly have done better when all they have to attract players is a relegation release clause? Arnautovic is about the top level of player they should be aiming for.

This is it. Payet was carrying them. They have a bricky squad, and no right to be more than relegation candidates because of it - Arnautovic is about the best they can pull. And he, while massively talented, was at Stoke and now West Ham for a reason...

Can’t say I follow the clams so Saturday’s escalation came as a bit of a surprise especially as they had drawn one cup final and won another this season. I thought that was all WHam fans cared about. Reminded me a bit of this

 
Why do their fans suddenly feel entitled? They are a bit better than they were. Used to be a yoyo club not that long ago. Which they may well become if the club doesn't get behind the team for the run in. Here's hoping. Their stadium would look good in the championship.

They could save themselves a fortune - attendances would be so low they wouldn't need the temporary seating.

Agreed, they can't expect to go out and sign players that come in and perform at the level of Payet with any real frequency.

They can sign good players with potential and develop them. That they've failed to do. Their team is filled with average players that are performing about as well as can be expected. Maybe Lanzini, Cresswell and Koyate as exceptions. But so many of their players are a overpaid much of a muchness bunch that are only there for the money.

A complete failure to run the club properly over years. That starts at the top and I can understand the frustration of the fans. They have the anti-Levy of ownership.
 
They are now at a stage where average players would rather sign for Watford, Burnley or one of the promoted teams, they are way behind Everton and Saudi Sportswashing Machine and can only attract players by inflated wage offers, their academy system doesnt seem to produce anyone and given their league position most managers will not gamble with their job by giving youth a chance. I always thought they were a great option for a foreign buyer as London is the best location in the UK and the lease could be renegoiated with new owners, but all the negative reports make them less attractive.

We probably have to take some of the blame for them no longer being an academy for young footballers. There are only so many talented young footballers in the London area and everything I hear suggests that we are the first choice (unless their parents want a dodgy pay off in which case it's Chelsea).

Its bizarre. They should have been copying us over the last decade. Taking the same route.

Instead they have tried every shortcut in the book and ended up in a situation where they have almost nothing.

Certainly no credibility. Their only selling points being that they are in London and willing to pay a ransom.

If you want stability, to play in a good footballing side, or to play in a team with identity, for a well run club, well supported, in a positive environment...

... You just wouldnt go near them would you? Not even if you wanted only half of those things.

Now they will appeal only to lower league players looking for exposure, or ageing players wanting to cash in.

I don't think it's about being entitled i think they have every right to be tinkled off with the way the club is being run.

The whole move to Stratford has totally alienated the supporters, they (the fans) should have realised sooner what a mistake it would but were too busy thinking they were getting one over us - now the penny has dropped but it's too late to do anything about it.

Should they expect overnight success? Our model has been a very steady, slow step by step progression. Even now, we've just gone out to Juve, but have taken a small step on from last season. No massive leap. Levy didn't find Poch at his first attempt. I think they need to get behind the club rather than undermine it. Stratford is GHod awful. Based in a waste land next to an equally vacuous shopping center. The ONLY good think is Hackney Wick just across the canal. If they weren't such mugs they could drink there, and use the station there - a vastly improved experience imo.

The writing was on the wall from the get go. Stadium with running tracks have never ever been great for viewing football. That was the time to protest against the stadium move not now! We had fans saying they'll give Spurs up if we moved there - and that was rebuilding the thing. They have to deal with the stadium now and get behind the club.

I think Moyes was a poor appointment. Maybe the best they could do. Someone like the guy who recently left Watford would have been far more astute. They need a leader with charisma. Instead they got Moyes.

They had one and sacked him earlier in the season after not buying any of the players he wanted.

Agree about Stratford, that Olympics sums up Britain, we build something that you pretty much have to get through a shopping centre to get to. I have been a few times to the Velodrome for the 6 day racing in October and though the velodrome is great when you get there it is a grim walk and the Olympic stadium is even worse.
