Good on the ball but looked dodgy a few times defensively.
 
Played that over the top clipped ball to Son that's been sorely missed.

Been so long that Son's touch has got even worse at controlling them.

model pro, does his job but could be upgraded for a team with top 4 ambitions.
udogie came in was better though vastly inexperienced.
instead i think he has been overrated but thats football, we are entitled to our opions :)
 
Almost forgot, there was a point in extra time where he had the ball and was under pressure (think before 4th goal) and he just fudging hoofed it long.

Thought it was that experience moment, not the time to fudge around and find the cute pass, just clear the fudging line and re-organize.
 
I know I'm in the minority about Davies, but will give him credit for the last couple of performances.

Where I worry is when he is left in foot races and has to compete in the air against these massive, physical forwards (or centre halves from set pieces). I'm so glad we took the game away from Villa when we did. If they had loaded all their big men forward and we were on the back foot for the last 20 mins with a multitude of set pieces, I would have been more worried about Ben. Same as if Haaland had been on the pitch on Wednesday and playing off the shoulder of Davies.

I'm hoping we keep Davies out of the league team starting line-up. I don't think it will always look as favourable as it has in the last couple.

He's not a long term solution

- Vuskovich is clearly the next incoming CB with Philips as another option (if he kicks on in his loan)
- The question is do we buy a LB that can play LCB as well (Udogie needs cover) or do we wait for Vuskovich and then have one of the CB's being LCB cover as well?

Looking forward to see him. I notice he is another right footed CB. I believe Phillips and Dorrington are as well, and prefer the RCB berth. It was Dorrington that was shifting over to the left in the U21's when playing with Phillips. Dragusin has started to look better there though.

It's great to have this pipeline of centre halves coming through and I'm not sure I'd buy a centre half now.

I also think that it is one position where it takes a little while to adapt to Ange's system. Dragusin came last January but it's only recently that he's starting to really understand his duties in our system. That means that buying a centre half in January might not add the cover.

I'm definitely in the camp that we should buy a specialist LB to push Udogie and balance the squad.
