Not seen a lot of him, so not sure what to expect really
Ditto. How would he compare to Chris Gunter or Wayne Bridge at 21?

Then Liverpool will be luckyWell, very well. Davies is a confident and composed player. He won't do too much, and he'll never do too little. He'll get forward when appropriate, put crosses in, and accurate ones at that. He'll chip in with a goal or two. He'll help us to more than a few clean sheets too. If he signs, people will be laughing at how much money United wasted, and how much we underpaid. I've seen a lot of his games for Swansea, and all of them for Wales. He's never been the worst player on the pitch - but he'll always be one of the top 5. Exceptional player who knows what he's good at, and sticks to his job.
Then Liverpool will be lucky
We've wasted too much time faffing around as usual
Really? What faffing around have we done? Supposedly we've had an offer accepted. Have Liverpool? If Liverpool are genuinely interested, they could have just waited until we had an offer accepted at any point then matching it or gazumping it as they saw fit.
You think that clubs just randomly decide to sign players at a moments notice when they're not managed by Harry Redknapp? If Liverpool are interested, they've probably been interested for a while. So have we.
Ben Davies has a value. You don't just pay the value. You go in low and work your way up. Swansea start with a valuation higher than his value and work downwards.
You think Levy should just say "how much do you want?" "Ok, fine, cheques on its way?"

We need a left back, it seems Poch decided this before starting pre season because we have been linked to Davies for quite a while, why should it take so long to get the deal done? Davies wasn't at the world cup, Liverpool have been after Moreno from Sevilla for an age, whilst they were doing that we should have concluded the Davies deal
That is faffing around, I mean we are talking about a 8 - 12 mill rated full back, for CL chasing team its no big deal really is it to pay such an amount.
Apparently we are not after many players at all, so the few positions we we need to strengthen should be sorted as quickly as possible. Especially defensively so Poch has as much time as possible to organise them into a unit during pure season.

Unless you have been party to the negotiations, you have no way of knowing why the deal hasn't been done yet.
Well it hasn't because he played last night
And?
You still don't know why the deal hasn't yet been done.
Apparently ssn ran a story in the morning saying that Levy was reporting Swansea to the FA because Ben Davies was involved in their friendly last night and he had just signed for us for £10m earlier that day....
And?
You still don't know why the deal hasn't yet been done.
Didn't you get the memo? It's ALWAYS Levys fault if we don't sign a target or appoint a manager we've been linked with - there are no other factors at play
What factors? This couldn't have been a more straightforward transfer.
We need a left back, identified Davies long ago, made an approach, player wanted to come, Swansea had Taylor and signed a young left back so Davies was free to leave, Swansea wanted 8 - 12 mill. This was all almost 3 weeks ago. Is it so hard to get such a deal over the line? At least for Poch's sake, he needs his defenders in place so he can work on them as early as possible in pre season so that the defence is ready for the start of the season.
What could the problem have been. I think levy tried to haggle hard as he usually does. Haggling is fine, but sometimes you have to look at a deal and realise that even if you overpay a little you are still getting a good deal. Even if we paid 12 mill for Davies, I don't see where we can find a left back as decent as him with PL experience for a cheaper sum, especially when you compare the deal to the 31 mill Utd paid for Shaw.

Wow.
The (wilful?) naivety of this...
Ever bought a house and had to go through the various checks and legal processes and paperwork checks and delays down to other parties over which you had NO control?
Was it nice and rapid and concluded in a couple of weeks from start to finish? If so, you were damned lucky.
Wonder what a similar process is like but dealing with purchasing the services of a person with all the vested interests associated and it being a multi-million pound transaction..?
