So Vinicius Jnr and Real Madrid were giving it the big gonads as they heard he was going to win the Ballon D’or a couple of weeks back but now he is apparently not winning it so he and all the Real Madrid players, staff etc are no longer attending the ceremony. What a class act from a classy club

I don’t get why the hype over Vinicius, he was well below Bellingham in goals and assists in the league, he only scored 2 more goals in the champions league than Bellingham both getting the same amount of assists and yet Vinicius should get it? I can’t wrap my head around it. Rodri carries City and wins the premier league and Euro’s, he is much more important for City than Vinicius is for Madrid.

I don't get the hype on the Ballon D'Or. It's just a bunch of ill informed journo's deciding on mostly a bunch of attacking players.
If you've ever watched a game and then looked at a journo's players ratings, you'd surely come to the conclusion that they're the last ones picking the best player in the world.
I've always found the entire thing a joke.

Rodri is absolutely top of class in what he does, the idea that someone else is better in another role because they score goals is not one I subscribe to. He is deserving of the award

The correct person won the award, i was just using Vinicius stats compared to Bellingham to try and work out how he was even in the top 2 let alone deserving to win it. Carvajal should have been competing with Rodri for the award with Bellingham a close third.

No I was agreeing, Im just saying I don't agree with the notion that the guys scoring goals are always the best players in the world. Its unfashionable but as you say, best man won

The Ballon d'Or rewards the best male and female players in the world, without distinction of championship or nationality.
The Ballon d'Or is awarded based on three main criteria:
1) Individual performances, decisive and impressive character
2) Team performances and achievements
3) Class and fair play
The Ballon d'Or is awarded by an international jury of specialised journalists, with one representative per country, from the top 100 in the latest FIFA rankings (before the lists are published) for men and the top 50 for women.
Each juror selects ten players in descending order of merit from a list of 30 established by the editorial staff of France Football, members of the editorial staff of L'Équipe, the best juror from the previous edition – Costa Rica for the men's Ballon d'Or, South Africa for the women's Ballon d'Or – and UEFA ambassadors Luís Figo for the men's trophy and Nadine Kessler for the women's trophy.
The ten selected players are awarded 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point respectively. The Ballon d'Or is awarded to the player with the highest number of points.
In case of a tie, the players are separated by the number of first-place votes. If the tie remains, they are separated by the number of second-place votes, then by the number of third-place votes, and so on. Any dispute arising from the voting is decided by the editor-in-chief of France Football as the organiser.

Says something about the lack of competition imo. Sergio Busquets never got close to winning it, and he was levels above what Rodri is, and ever will be. And I mean LEVELS!

Busquets was competing with Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi just off of the top of my head.
Also thats harsh on Rodri, i don’t think he is that far behind Busquets in all honesty.

This is all posturing again after the superleague vs UEFA conflict. That and FIFA trying to steal money away with the club world cup.
RM know that UEFA and FIFA are still stealing money from their major stakeholders like themselves and will find these little opportunities to remind them of that. They know they are taking decision rights that nobody ever gave them.
RM will happily stick the knife in. Don't blame them. We all should until FIFA and UEFA right their ship.

Did you watch much of Real last season? Bellingham scored a lot but Vinnie was more pivotal more influential and more involved. Bellingham got a lot of the headlines due to the unexpected number of goals he was scoring, but he was basically playing striker so in reality it wasn't as surprising as many seem to think.
