Bale (again)

With 5 subs being used next season it be like a basketball game next season, not many players be playing 90 minutes especially with the world cup and european games all over place.

Bale can start for an hour or finish the last half hour, get the fecker in i say!!

Saying that if Wales dont get to the World cup he may end up in Cardiff lol....

I think you are mistaking 5 subs for rolling subs. He'd be fine as an on for 10 seconds dead ball specialist, like a kicker in American Football. But he's not got the legs for EPL games of any length stint these days.

Imagine signing him, and after playing safe with his hamstrings etc to get to the World Cup (assuming they are in it) he co.es back after and says fudge it and starts opening his legs up like the old days and starts leaving defenders for dead again

He's played in 7 games this season all comps. With the 5 sub rule. No thanks.

I think we'd be mad no to. Impact sub v low block teams something we've struggled with basically since Bale left. Even with Eriksen we still struggled against a low block, Bale bypasses that, boom 10 extra points a season.

Dream on.

As others have said, used in a certain way he's still deadly.
Low block teams, 10 men behind the ball, Bale can still ping one in the corner.

Depends a lot on wages for me. Obv some commercial benefit, but needs to be sensible based on the fact he won't be putting in 90 mins every week anymore.

On a free though. No brainer for me.

11 goals in 20 PL appearences with the best mpg in the league...

Having a look at his 2021 contribution as a reference point.

Goals directly leading to more points:
2-1 win vs Brighton - 2 points
2-1 win vs Southampton - 2 points
4-2 win vs Leicester (two goals) - 2 points

Also scored in:
4-0 win against Sheffield United (3 goals)
4-1 win against Palace (2 goals)
4-0 win against Burnley (2 goals)

Those games where his goals weren't directly decisive may have gone the other way without his goals. Being comfortable rather than risk a late equaliser. But then again a different sub may also have scored in one of the games he did score in. Let's say that equals out for simplicity.

6 points isn't bad at all as a contribution from an impact sub.

Depends on wages, his motivation, his fitness now (two years later) and if other good options can be found. A younger player with potential, that can deliver more, but also have a longer term impact would be better perhaps. But he's a decent option at the right cost.

A few flat track bully goals in dead rubber games. He was clearly well past it when you watched him. I'd rather have Vinicius (10 in 22) back of the two
You really take the tinkle at times. You state Bales goals were against Marine, but guess what, 3 of those 10 goals that Vinicius score were against Marine.
Lets take the Marine game out since you have basically said it doesn't count, that's 7 in 21 for Vinicus and guess what, that's still 11 in 20 in the PL for Bale.
Or we could just do a like for like comparison, Bale 11 in 20 (84 mins per goal) in PL, Vinicus 1 in 9 (303 mins per goal) in PL. Even in the Dutch league Vinicus has only scored 6 goals this season.
But yeah, Vinicus is a much better choice than Bale
