I think we'd be mad no to. Impact sub v low block teams something we've struggled with basically since Bale left. Even with Eriksen we still struggled against a low block, Bale bypasses that, boom 10 extra points a season.
11 goals in 20 PL appearences with the best mpg in the league...
Having a look at his 2021 contribution as a reference point.
Goals directly leading to more points:
2-1 win vs Brighton - 2 points
2-1 win vs Southampton - 2 points
4-2 win vs Leicester (two goals) - 2 points
Also scored in:
4-0 win against Sheffield United (3 goals)
4-1 win against Palace (2 goals)
4-0 win against Burnley (2 goals)
Those games where his goals weren't directly decisive may have gone the other way without his goals. Being comfortable rather than risk a late equaliser. But then again a different sub may also have scored in one of the games he did score in. Let's say that equals out for simplicity.
6 points isn't bad at all as a contribution from an impact sub.
Depends on wages, his motivation, his fitness now (two years later) and if other good options can be found. A younger player with potential, that can deliver more, but also have a longer term impact would be better perhaps. But he's a decent option at the right cost.
