Antonin Kinsky

Really? You would have left Kinsky on the pitch? Easy to blame when you are not the one making the decision.

Guy was having a nightmare. Tudor pulled him out. I am not Tudor's fan due to his lack of PL experience but I give him kudos for making the call.

Kinsky doesn't have the quality to be a Spurs GK.

The decision to take him off then was 100% right. In my head I was already hoping after the first mistake that we'd take Kinsky off after half time. After the others I was pleased to see him depart.

What isn't on is Tudor not showing any empathy towards him. He needs support of his coach in that situation. A brief handshake, ebrace or something. Takes no time to do that.

VDV is another train wreck that needs a kick up the arse at the moment. Hrs been terrible for months.

He's not a good player. The only attribute he has is his speed which gets him out of trouble and looks spectacular when he gets back from nowhere with a sliding tackle. But he is constantly out of position and fairly poor in the air for such a big lad. If he was able to read the game properly he wouldn't constantly need his speed to recover/

Yes the first one, he doesn't actually stick his arm all the way out. If he had, he would have got his hand to the ball and probably saved it. He's a weird keeper, he doesn't like stopping the ball going into the net.
It's overrated.

My cousin is a Liverpool fan. Doesn't want VDV anywhere near them. Says that's the general feeling amongst their fans.

Feel really sorry for the lad. Such a horrible experience for a young goalkeeper. Hope he gets the support needed, and goes on to have a good career somewhere. His time at Spurs is probably over. Our horrible 'fans' would destroy him again if he were to play again.

Was thinking that a loan for Kinsky now needs to be priority. It's not as if he is ever going to get homegrown status so we should get him out into Europe somewhere, even back at his old club.

Nobody enjoys seeing that happen to these kids.

I was also thinking that if he has been vocal about not getting opportunities, that will probably change him a little now.

Thought it was the right call to sub him off. Hard to know what’s happening when a keeper has 2 absolute howlers so quickly (and looks so shaky), if he’s potentially lost the plot what else can you do.

Also don’t care that Tudor didn’t console him. One of our problems as a club is that we’re a bunch of complaining fannies, so might help to toughen up in general. Tbf Kinsky is prob more concerned with blowing his audition to care what anyone else did.

It could go either way. Thorstvedt had a nightmare start for us, but recovered to become a great keeper and cup winner. But then Karius never recovered

Was horrible to see him walking down the tunnel and a couple of staff chasing after him. He must have been distraught. He obviously has talent to get to where he is, hopefully he's a strong enough character to come back from this.

His fudge ups last night are nothing in the grand scale of things....
I read that Palhinha and Solanke went after him (as well as a member of staff). That was good.
Did he come back out onto the bench later?

I’ll preface this by saying I didn’t see the game as I’m away with work. But yeah, I’d have left him on the pitch until half time at least. He’s a 22 year old professional, not a 10 year old kid. He’s made it as a pro keeper so he should have the capacity to recover somewhat from a poor start.

What happened last night is something I’ve never seen in my 42 years watching football. It’s staggering to pull a keeper after 15 minutes. The closest parallel I can remember is Karius for Liverpool in the CL final. Klopp never pulled him.

However, let’s say the decision to pull him was correct. The decision to blank him is astonishingly brutal and cold. You’ve just humiliated the guy, show him some compassion, don’t completely throw him to the wolves. Those are not the actions of a manager who can unite this group.

Again, assuming for the sake of argument that pulling him was the right decision, that seriously calls into question the decision to start him especially in such a big game.

What happened with Kinsky last night was appalling on every level for me. However, even if you think hooking him was the right call, that seriously calls into question Tudor’s decision making to start him and man management in how he treated him afterwards.

Shocking carry on.

I really feel for him. Time is on his side and hopefully he’ll go on to have a great career - though probably not with us. But the decision to start him last night, away to Atletico? In a champions league knockout match? Good GHod.
Edit: At the same time I guess it shows Tudor is looking to see if replacing Vicario is a possibility. And this tie gave him the chance to try something different. So I suppose there’s logic there somewhere. What impact it’ll have on Vicario remains to be seen - if any.
