I never ever read about the option, and as you say, the player said there wasn’t one

One season does not dictate that a team is better than another, we finished above Liverpool for a number of years and look how that turned out, they were always considered a bigger team. Saudi Sportswashing Machine have 1 good season and now they are 1 of the big 4? doesn't work like that, they may have finished in the top 4 but that doesn't make you a regular to warrant being a top 4 team, look at Leicester.

Because he's an academy player, so it benefits them more to sell/loan him as opposed to a non-academy player. Any fee from loan or sale is direct profit. They need to move players out to be able to afford to sign Cancelo.

The fact he's "home grown" means any loan income from him is net gain. If they loan out a player they've bought, will still impact the finacial records with depreciation.
Their finacial situation is fu..ed up. They need everything they can get.
And Fati wants more playing time, something he's not guaranteed at Barca.
