Amen. 2 semis in one season. 2 semi finals!! I can't recall when last we did this.
It’s not much of an achievement to be honest especially with how gutless we were in the Carabao.

The only way that Ange can claim any success this season is to win the Europa. That’s it. For our club, near misses are too frequent and a couple of semi finals is nothing to shout about.

The good news is that this trophy is much more winnable than the Carabao.

We knocked out Emirates Marketing Project and man utd, won the first leg of the semi to the form team in the country and possibly Europe, yes league form has been awful but our cup runs have been good.

They’ve been decent but nothing we haven’t seen numerous times over the last 30 years. The league form has been something we haven’t seen for 20 years.

The only way to offset that, IMO, is to win the Europa. Otherwise Ange is just the latest in a long list who made us nearly men and did it while delivering what I’d argue is the worst league performance certainly in relative terms and perhaps in absolute terms in my 40 years supporting the club.

He has to win it. As Metallica once sang, nothing else matters.

Deserves to be let go for our league form, which is the priority, but our cup results are good.

That’s not as much of an achievement as it would have been in previous years, given that they have both had Meh seasons. I would love us to win the Europa league , but with Utd and Spurs in the semis - 2 teams who have had otherwise awful domestic seasons , that may be suggest the quality of teams in this tournament is not great.

That was part of run of embarrassing losses for City, they were losing to everyone.

United have been muck all year, they are in a bigger crisis than us.

Can only beat what’s in front of you, but there is context there.

His adaptability last night makes it worse for me. We needed a win to save his career and he was able to let go of his idealism for once. Too late. It has given us, as fans, one of the worst seasons in years and years. Unforgivable in my view. And I've been pretty benevolent to Ange in the past.

A team fighting relegation (us) beats a team of perennial league winners and CL winners (and not for the first time this season) that's not shabby, dress it up how you want, we would not be favourites in that game.

I'll give you utd though.

Played like that three months ago and I would think most fans would still be behind him.
The encouraging part is that the players showed what they are capable of for next season and a new manager.

He’s shown it before, Liverpool in the first Leg of Carabao was our best performance of the season. But he swiftly goes back to playing his preferred way. Even yesterday there were times, albeit fewer than usual, where our organisation at the back gave up chances for Frankfurt. Once the pace of VDV got us out of trouble. We haven’t always got the VDV option of course.

What does winning it do?

It's a competition that Rangers got to the semi finals of. The only value left in this competition is nostalgia and memories of when it mattered.

Winning it gets a trophy andcl football next season. Which we'd have all taken at the beginning of the season.

Still don't think ange is getting the best out of the squad and think a different manager could do better.

Winning Div 2 gets a trophy too. I won't be getting too excited about that either.

Must have missed the "and cl football next year" bit.

Unless you thought we'd win the league. Trophy and cl was the highest we could aim for this season.
CL qualification through strong league form means we're a good team playing well.

Qualification via beating European nobodies and has-beens doesn't really mean much. Especially when we get embarrassed out of the group stage.

As i said i don't want ange as manager next season. I think we have been poor all season and a lot of last.

Qualifying through whatever means has the same result. A trophy on top? I'd take that.

We qualify for Europa League semis and some of us think it is nothing because our league position isn't good.

I can only think the playing down of the trophies that we can realistically win is to protect themselves from the banter of other fans and the "but it's only" phalanx.
Well the two trophies that we hanker after have only been won by two cheating clubs and one of the biggest clubs on the planet.
Is our winning the EL or any of the domestic cups any less an achievement than arsenals FA Cup, utds EL or Newcastles carabao Cup win?
It's bizarre.
