We need (if we're not already) to make sure the recovery programs are individual and not 'one-size'...I mean, you'd have to believe they are?
It's hard to know if standards are up to par but it's obvious that under conte and his cronies the entire team were fitter and less injury prone. BUT the same is happening to Emirates Marketing Project and to a lesser extent Man U so maybe it's the air across England.

Boards tend to back their managers right up to the moment that they don’t.

I’ve been saying for a week or so that the Liverpool semi first leg is a pivotal moment. If he loses that in a way that suggests we need a miracle in the second leg then he’s gone, I think.
Boards can lie if it suits their purpose .
Levy is no saint and has resorted to corporate espionage (West Ham).

I think there has to be some correlation across football in the Prem with regards to top internationals who haven't stopped for some years. I think the only reason Kane adapted his game was to manage that workload; if he hadn't, he'd be done by now.

Oh right, there are more international games starting this season. Pretty much all our international players except kulu and solanke look exhausted or are injured.

I genuinely believe he's trying to protect the development of players such as Lankshear, who to be fair I felt might be ready in the summer but who obviously isn't quite yet.
Spence was a mystery, agreed.
Werner was given to him, Maddison is being managed I think...let me ask, do you think Ange is purposefully blocking players who are ready and who could change the current trajectory? If so, why would he be doing that?

After starting our first 2 Europa away games plus scoring his first senior goal at Galatasaray I’m surprised that Lankshear has only played a grand total of 9 minutes since then (1 minute at Fulham plus the last 8 mins at Southampton) even when Solanke has been unavailable.

Surely Postecoglou can’t be so annoyed with Lankshear getting that 2nd yellow / rate him so lowly that he’d rather play a knackered Son as CF?!

And we sprint more than anyone

Heard someone explain the way we play means the muscles are put under high level stress twice for the CB.

First is the recovery sprint putting the hamstring under strain , then it's the last ditch lunge putting under even more stress straight after

Makes sense, as lunging and sprinting are the 2 most common causes of hamstring strains so no wonder our CBs are constantly getting injured.

We might need 6 decent CBs to rotate between if we’re to continue with Angeball next season, so they each have enough recovery time without having to be rushed back.

Who knows? I genuinely don't know. My guess is that it has nothing to do with anger at all. It'd be interesting for him to be asked directly how he feels about Lankshear's development.

Assuming it's even worse for the full backs.

Porro hasn't been injured, but he's clearly completely done in

Lankshear is an odd one

Ange was complaining about Solanke being shattered and he keeps him on at HT when 5-0 against Southampton.

Levy needs to install ice cold plunges at the side of the pitch for the players to use. And steam rooms too. But he won’t.

Apparently he has called off the hotel build, though; it’s to be replaced by a hospital for use exclusively by the players. So fair play to him.

What is a results chaser?!?
I’ll try and clear that up.

Using the Nuno context from my original post; I’m referring to those who see some short term success over the fence playing a certain way and all of a sudden decide our way isn’t worth working through.

It seems we have those fans that would be happier if we flipped our system/manager if it meant getting some results, allbeit the maximum reward is probably 8th or something.

Yes we are languishing lower at the moment, but that is due to the prolonged injuries and the teenager transfers strategy. Our current style has a much bigger upside once we get the pieces in place. Look at games like Villa, Utd, City, Wham, first 20 mins vs Chelsea last 2 season, + all the results against lesser teams. It just needs consistency which takes time.

So by ‘results chasers’ I’m referring to those that don’t want to work through the tough 2-3 years and want to adopt some kind of short term fix to achieve quick results rather than work through a prolonged system/culture change - aka, Liverpool/Arsenal.

Yes, we have 4 keepers. Only one of whom is decent. The fact that Forster is the one getting all the game time tells you Austin and Whiteman aren’t nearly good enough.

As for fullbacks, for some reason ange didn’t fancy Spence until he had no choice. Likewise with Reggie.

And the Odobert and Moore absences are just plain bad luck.

We need to ditch both of Austin and Whiteman. Neither appears to be a trusted part of the squad. So right now they’re just occupying squad space plus really we only need three goalkeepers. As if things got desperate we could then use an emergency loan. Whoever the emergency loan was would likely be more trusted than either Austin or Whiteman appear to be.

He’ll lose the dressing room soon (if he hasn’t already) imagine you’re part of a team dropping like flies, due to (we think) a combination of training and orders to play a certain way. You’d be bricking yourself you’re next. That can’t help you to play in a relaxed manner, you’d be uptight and nervy and trying to protect yourself. I can’t see any good outcome from this unless Ange changes his style and philosophy

The player briefings during the last international break was a sign the dressing room was already lost then.

Answers in bold below.

Sorry? I genuinely do not understand the point you're looking to make?

Your opinion.

OK. Again, your opinion. And if I may, I think you're living in some assumptions with what you said above. I For the record, I don't feel backed into any corner, no.

No, happy to respond.
And to your point of fascination...if he gets something of a fitter squad back, and if after 6 months working with such a situation it looks no better, then absolutely, we look elsewhere. I could possibly be prepared to accept that in the summer if nothing is working any better and we have a decent succession plan lined up. I just don't think anyone can judge anything right now given what's going on.

We are all frustrated. And we are all looking for a magic bullet. Right now I do not believe that exists.

The point I made was that you said "Frankly I don't expect anything but disagreement from you" gives off the vibe that it's the other person that is being contrarian. You disagreed with him, not the other way around. The order of events isn't crucial but it still sounds like you are making out that it's the other guy being difficult / disagreeing for the sake of it.

As for pointing out what is / isn't an opinion-

My opinion on the style of play is backed up by that little old thing called the league table. It doesn't make sense to ignore it because of some injuries. Nobody is asking you to pick out what is / isn't an opinion as its quite clear and nobody has said we can't hold opposing ones.

I'm not sure what assumptions you mean, it's based on what you have said. I'm not going to go back and listen to every podcast to extrapolate the exact quote but what I said is the general shtick. You want to be a positive podcast to provide an alternative to the ones that revolve around mockery and negativity, which is admirable to a certain degree but puts you in a tricky position. Making bold statements is one thing but sticking by them when it goes tits up is another.

On the 2nd to last paragraph, that's entirely fair enough and shows that you're not completely blinkered. It's an easy throwaway comment but I hope it does work out. For one, if we go to Mason again that's the point when I check out for the season and will consider getting a particular rooster and ball tattoo removed, and I don't see an immediate replacement out there. But it's only frustrating if you have hope and that resulting hope makes a mockery of you time and time again. Like others on here I feel fairly detached from it. If the heights were what we have already been through, then brick, it's the blueballing of the century and it hurts.

You can’t say you are a big club and allow your coach to think that it’s alright to be in regelation zone. Support the manager is something and let him ruins this season and maybe the next is something else.
