We had offers of over £15m a year when the stadium first opened (back when Pochettino managed us and we were considered a major club).

I'd be surprised. No club in the world currently gets more than £10m (Bayern are second highest on £10m), other than Barca (£16m)

Another nothing burger

- 6 teams in the PL (30%) in 2019 had a stadium sponsorship deal
- 4 teams in 2022 had a stadium sponsorship deal

Can't find an article on 2024/25 season and too fudging lazy to manually check each one.

So clearly we aren't the only one and top flight teams in the PL have some perspective (that isn't just ENIC bricking the bed), in addition, it's not even a UK thing because lower league team have a much higher rate of Stadium sponsorship ..

When you cap wages at 45% of turnover you need all the revenue you can get! ;)

What are we now?…. 6 years in? That would be £90m, perhaps just paid off our huge debt (or earning interest sitting ready to pay debt as tranches mature). Or perhaps it could’ve been part used to buy a feeder club and set up the world’s best Dara department.
Its still pennies in the context of Werner's wage this season being £10m

The question really becomes if you think Ryan Mason would have a better chance of winning football matches with the current iteration of our squad.
All other discussions are actually not especially the point right now.

Benitez might come as a temporary fix. We’d all be bored s hitless for 4 months, but he could probably get us the points needed to ensure safety pretty quickly, and maybe take us further on in the cups.

Have you legitimately heard that as a credible rumour, or is just personal speculation?

No, it was just a thought I had this week should Ange go. I'd be keen to avoid Mason at all costs - for his own good, as much as anything else.

Benitez did take Chelsea to a Europa League win while doing a caretaker stint, I think, didn't he?

He's supposed to be taking over Botafogo in Brazil

We haven't capped wages at 45% of turnover but FYI it is *recommended* that wages do not exceed 50% of turnover for sustainability purposes. While we are an outlier in the PL in adhering to those financial recommendations it should be noted that quite a number of clubs are under investigation or at borderline compliance with PL PSRs and an increasing number of PL clubs are facing sanctions including points deductions. Our wage bill fell significantly in offloading high earners like Kane, N'Dombele, Hojbjerg etc and replacing many of them with young players on lower wages.

IF IF IF Sarr is injured as the rumour suggests, there cant be anymore doubt over the managers approach injuring the players
Playing him Sunday was an awful call
Personally, I think the decision was reckless whatever the outcome is. If he gets away with Sarr not being out, it doesn't make the decision any better IMO.

The only difference the outcome makes to me is that I don't want to hear the manager complaining that his injury list lengthened this week if Sarr is ruled out.

We’d have to keep him if he did that for us.
