We already had enough centre backs and left backs. I presume we will add 2 more strikers, 3 more midfielders and 4 wingers then.

Sorry mate but are you really suggesting that Davies and Robertson at their peak were equals?!!

One of them is a candidate for the best LB the PL has ever had. The other never held down a starting spot.

Can't say I watched him much last year, watching Spurs was more than enough football

But I also think we will be using him differently, I don't think he's going to be starting many games, more of a sub to take the load off Udogie

I know the regular narrative is that Spurs need more experience and leadership. You can't imagine what experiences this group have been through over the last 2 seasons. Two 17th PL places, the EL win and playing under 4 different 1st team coaches surely has to be one of the biggest character building experiences any player can go through. Our squad will be full of leadership as they come out of the other side. In some ways it will be Robbo that could be struggling. I can imagine playing for Pool is way easier than what playing for Spurs is going to be for him.

I hope we don't over-rotate on this leadership paranoia and buy too many older players. We need 21-26 year olds mostly.

Nah, you were talking about the starting point for the 26/27 season. That is what I was referring to.

I played golf with a massive Pool fan on Saturday. There have been defensive question marks about Robbo for a couple of seasons. The system was setup so him and Trent could use their strengths going forward and push the opposition back. Robbo has never been a great defender and more recently that has been exposed as he loses his recovery speed and stamina. That could easily bring him back to Davies level who never relied on that in the first place. Especially under Jose, Davies was often caught high and wide when we needed him goal side. Mostly though, he has had to defend on his defensive attributes to become a decent FB. He was never great. Apart from total respect for the guy, I was never a fan especially as he moved inside. He was a better stopper full-back than a makeshift centre half. People also forget Davies horrendous injury record. He's had hamstring injuries every season for 5 seasons plus other injuries. He's often been unavailable when his manager needed him. Robbo has always been available.

As I've said, I think we will see moments from Robbo rather than full 90 mins like LFC got. Mostly though, we get to find out whether his brain is helping his body adapt and become a better defender. He will need to adapt.

He's definitely a candidate for the best PL LB. It's probably Ashley Cole for me to be fair, but Robbo is top 3 along with Irwin.

He only started 11 games for Liverpool in the league, mostly on the bench with a total of 1,172 minutes which equates to 13 matches. He was not their first choice full back and Kerkez himself was awful. Udogie gets injured a lot, so likely to be featuring a lot. Like I say, I hope a change in scenery works for him....

One issue is that's 3 spaces in the 25 allotted to LBs, it might not be the best use of the limited space.
