Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

Re: Avb done (official)

I can't believe people think Capello!! He will be MORE defensive!

Hmmm...

Re: Avb done (official)

He's a good manager, you only need to hear him speak about the game to understand that. You also don't go a season unbeaten and win the Europa League if you're a bad manager, no matter how many people try and discredit those achievements. The big moves have all just come a bit too early for him, it was time for him to go and i'm glad he has but in time he'll be successful elsewhere.

yep, and we are on his **** list now, wouldn't surprise me if he turns up down the road in a couple of seasons and pays us back big time

Re: Avb done (official)

Did anyone seriously think just 24 hours ago - as we debated formations and personnel for the Liverpool game - that the end would come so quickly? I certainly didn't. Didn't even occur to me the catastrophe could be so big, so brutal, so swift. It's dizzying.

Devastating for AVB and his career, which is now in total ruins. A second-tier job in Portugal is the best he can hope for, and try to rebuild. For me, his age was always the No. 1 concern, and in all honesty I think immaturity was indeed the fatal flaw in the end. Even the 5 years Martinez and Rodgers have on him is enough to make that little difference in experience/maturity I think.

Can't see de Boer bailing on Ajax so soon into a new season. Bielsa a massive risk. Capello a dinosaur. Moving for Pocchetino and ruining Southampton's season would be loutish, pathetic and embarrassing on our part. Hoddle scary.

Yah, it's not good.

Re: Avb done (official)

Oh dear. Short termism at it's worst. The Liverpool loss was a disaster, and we've been playing poorly for large parts of the season, but we've gathered more points than last season, won all of our Europa League games, while coping with the loss of the best player we've had since Hoddle (?), and trying to incorporate seven new players into the team.

Poor decision, which turned this season into a proper transitional season. Just like next season, when whoever was out makeshift manager will have to give way for some new guy with new ideas.

What happened to long term planning? Once again we're cementing our place as the top laughing stock of the PL.

Re: Avb done (official)

He had no friends in the media what so ever(AVB),alan smith was big cnut yesterday, because the goons got shafted saturday he loved sticking the knife in yesterday no impartialty what so ever......what has he done in football bugger all..........everyone thinks AVB is a very lucky man to get these jobs, but at least he tried, some of these tossers of journos and pundits all of them failures.........good manager but at the wrong club and the wrong set up....

Re: Avb done (official)

I'm sad. I was really hoping it would work out for AVB. Sadly it has all gone per shaped.

I hope it is not Sherwood. I hate having that **** anywhere near the club.

No idea where Levy goes from here

tickle my balls with a feather. One step forward, two steps back. Typical

Re: Avb done (official)

Unfortunately, I saw more losses coming with AVB. Great shame for him but he is 20 years too young to manage in this league. Getting the best out of the players you have, that is the key, and I'm not sure he has done it. Liverpool got their tactics spot on yesterday and AVB got his 100% wrong.

With regret, probably for the best. He won't manage in the UK again for a long while, if ever, but if he is a decent manager, he will come good again one day.

Re: Avb done (official)

Mixed feels. I really wanted AVB to succeed and believed he was the right man. However, why can he not be more flexible and only play his high line when the right players were available. It was suicide against Aguerro and Suarez. Yesterday, with only Dawson available as specialist CB and playing a Liverpool who like to counter-attack, it was madness. He brought it on himself and you'd have thought he would have learnt the lesson after Chelsea.

That said I hate these managerial sackings during the season. Did I imagine pictures of Capello yesterday? I can't remember where I saw his face on TV. He has a job with Russia but the Baldini link can't be dismissed.

Re: Avb done (official)

Why on earth would you wish for that dingdong head?

because he's an excellent manager.

It's sad what the macaronic English media have brainwashed a lot of people in this country regarding Capello. The guy is good...very good...

face it, AVB was an over-achiever. He over-achieved at Porto and at us last year. He knows the game though but he was always too young and inexperienced for this. He should have been a lower league manager where he could develop his tactics.

Re: Avb done (official)

It's so sad. We wall wanted AVB to be the answer. To be our Wenger or Fergie... but it's a results business and 0-1 Newc, 0-3 WHU, 0-5 Liverpool, 0-6 Emirates Marketing Project... and 3 wins against Palace, Swansea & Hull 1-0 penalties... isn't good enough. If we hadn't have got those 3 penalties AVB would have been gone in November.

We all love AVB, we love the man and he's a very good manager but right now we are absolutely ****e. Not even a shot on target yesterday...

I think it'll be Freund & Sherwood for the West Ham game and then who knows? JURGEN?!

Especially at club level. His CV speaks for itself. That said, it would be dour to watch

Re: Avb done (official)

I'm surprised that people are surprised.

Levy has previous. As for ruining another team to get their manager? Oh yeah, NEVER done that under ENIC.
