If this video contains highlights then I am concerned. But I find the comments below the highlights even more concerning

Looks pretty comfortable on the ball - so will he be competing with Dembele/Winks for a starting CM position?

Maybe the year loan is so we can make a decision between him and Barkley next summer

Just described by Jim Weir on Sky sports as an attacking midfield player. From his highlight reel, it looks like that to me too. I think he would more likely be competing with Sissoko or Lamela (if he ever re-appears).

Which videos? The few I've just had on in the background show him as a cm, box to box at a push

Gets in the box much more than a DM/CM. Probably box to box is a better description from what I have seen. He doesn't appear to me to play deep at all.
 
At Valencia he played as a CM in a 4-2-3-1 right? Or which role in which formation typically?
 
I really can't get excited about this signing. If the £40m for next year is anything to go by then why not try and sign a Mahrez, Barkley, Gray or someone else? Bit of a weird one despite annoying West Ham if we do get him.

Just because YOU know those players better than Gomes doesn't mean Poch wouldn't rather Gomes. He's entitled to target who he wants with the cash....
