American politics

This latest brick with Starlink is another case in point. Donny boy is/was/will be in Russia's corner. Bar his desire to emulate Putin's sphere-of-influence doctrine (which is failing, I might add), there must be some serious kompromat in Putin's safe, too. Some truly heinous brick from Epstein's island would be my guess. Those recordings have not surfaced.
The funny (ironic) thing is...Putin's position gets weaker the more Donald gets hated. As Donald will be the last person to care about Donald.
Yes, he been a useful idiot, and alas, it'll be terribly messy along the way. But, he will end up an embarrassment and sick individual.

What is incredible to me is that we are all witnessing the self-immolation of a superpower in real time. If Dems prevail in the midterms they will look to arrest the slide as best they can, and they may indeed gum up the gears a little, but the post-WWII era of Pax Americana is effectively over or in irreversible decline. And we still have at least two more years of this insane brick to navigate!!

As you said, Europe/UK must look to save itself and seek to draw in any like-minded pro-democratic states like Canada, S. Korea, etc and most importantly, Ukraine. Ukraine is the key to Europe's safety.

Was Pax Americana ever peaceful?

Don't disagree with what you mean about the post-WWII settlement but the idea of America being the peacekeepers died in Dallas in '63 (if not before) and has more been America keeping the "peace" for their economic advantage.

Although that was pre-WWII as well as seen by the imperial conquest and colonisation of Hawaii to keep sugar barons happy.
It is a much wider discussion, but in one context I guess it refers to global-scale conflicts, WWIII, and the current move into multipolarity. But yes, they Americanised the brick out of everywhere, whether they wanted it or not.

There was a great talk on the wireless the other day where the guy made some terrific point about the US not actually being anywhere near the power of good its proclaimed to be and not been for a long time. In fact there is now a fairly big window of failures and getting their ar5e kicked on the world stage when you consider Vietnam, the bodged Irag/Afghan situation, Iran etc.

There is a huge irony to how America positions itself, not least because of its position on immigration despite being a near all immigrant population, their relatively recent treatment of the actual indigenous population (relative to a countries actual history)

The ability to basically wash your whole reputation and have people believe in what you are selling is a massive skill they have clearly mastered, built on "economic strength, military might, and the soft power of cultural dominance" they are clearly starting to see a decline in at least two of those if not all three.

I mean.....................

I bet he struggled with Black
