American politics

I don't think it is too complicated. You need to look at who Musk bought twitter with. He bought it with two Russian oligarchs and the Saudi royal family. You then need to ask why did they buy Twitter, because it sure wasn't to make money. The obvious answer is for political influence and we see all the evidence we need on that daily. And then you need to ask to what end? And to me the answer to this is pretty obvious too as Musk is full on shilling for Trump and is pro-Putin.

How much of that money actually goes to the country though?
Ukraine for instance, it's x amount of military aid, all going to us companies.
I would think very little actually leaves America. Obviously it's probably going to corrupt corporations, but that's a whole other issue.
Nevermind that, we best all illegally immigrate to the US and get our free $9000 - It's an unverified screenshot of provocative information posted by our resident fact checker so it must be true!!

The problem is with idiots who believe anything, is that it's not always easy to prove something absurd hasn't happened. And is it ever worth the effort when the information is shown to be way off, because the precious little right wing snowflakes are still going to feel the way they want to feel anyways. I actually heard that Starmer is planning on giving all the illegal immigrants a free jetski, lifelong subscription to Netflix and Disney+ as well as a trolley dash at Marks and Spencer's every 4 days, you couldn't make it up, what a shambles................

I'd tell him to poke his free subscriptions

But we can't deny that America is spending the money, the amounts may or may not be correct.
The money is mainly being spent in the US with US companies, so in actual fact is supporting the American economy, a fact that many don't realise and cuts the legs out from under their argument that all their tax dollars are going abroad.
Your tax dollars are oiling the wheels of your economy.

I do find it super odd that the US President will talk about giving £10bn aid to a country to fight a war, rather than saying "I just sold £10bn worth of US arms made in the US by Americans, pumping money into the US"

So odd in fact, that I question my own sanity. Why don't they phrase it thus?

It sounds better, we are helping people defend themselves is better than we are giving your tax dollars to corrupt corporations of death.

I'd question that too.

Winter fuel allowance...

You said there is more foreign aid than money for our own people e.g. pensioners.

Despite your thumbs down the budget quite categorically shows you are wrong. £125b of the £138b is on state pensions.

What about 'winter fuel allowance'? Even if this comes out the sum total is a magnitude bigger than foreign aid. And an un- means tested winter fuel allowance was always nuts - benefit fraud by a million or so well off middle class retirees.

Seen this mentioned so many times, and yet it's such gonads.
I know it is to some extent, it is nigh on impossible to return the money to the government but it is is massively wasteful (and there are ways it can be recirculated to do good for those genuinely in need and yet 99.9% (to use one of your made up statistics) keep it for their holiday fund or some other non-essential use which makers it akin to a benefit fraud.
