It was decided that platforms such as this and Twitter were responsible for their content and most countries agreed.
Since then Twitter and Facebook (and more successfully, Google) have argued that they don't, but also want to choose which content they allow.
Something other than the opinion of the person who didn't get the job.

Spot on. There is a wider discussion on the failed experiment that is unregulated social media but this is the current state of play.Facebook and twitter are platforms which allow content as long as they don't violate section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, the one that it appears most politicians would like to amend/get rid of. It actually protects social media companies from liability/responsibility for their content and also their content-hosting choices, recognizing that holding these companies responsible for every bit of content they host is a near-impossible action.
Has anyone else notice that the general angst generated in this and the politics thread is starting to spill over into the other threads.
This used to be a really good, light hearted forum with good banter and the odd wacky poster but is slowly descending into a facsimile of other football forums
