Alfie Devine

very disappointed in this one. hes a very good player and definitely worth more than what they paid. every time hes played for us hes impressed
He still hasn't agreed. PNE have met the clause, but the player has to decide now. Hopefully he's currently round De Zerbi's being sold a future with us

He’s 21 and if no one else better is coming in for him then it clearly tells you that he isn’t rated at the club. Let it go, we can’t keep everyone. He will go down as a Tom Carrol, Ryan Mason etc.

You're probably right to be fair.

Preston fans think he'll turn them down because there's interest from Wolves and Ipswich. He was the outstanding player in his position in the championship last season.

Mason would probably be our best CM at the moment. Remember he played 30 games the season we came 3rd.

we should at least look at him pre season

I reckon I was wrong about Alfie's contract with Spurs. It seems it was announced by Spurs that he signed a new deal as he moved to PNE on loan. None of the main websites seem to have been updated for his contract end date. Did he just extend by a year or did he get into a new multi-year contract?

The problem becomes if he doesn't sign for PNE by June 30 then their loan clause for £4.5m has expired. That makes it his decision whether he sticks around and trains with RDZ in pre-season. From July 1st onwards he can then consider his other suitors as well. I think Wolves and Celtic have been mentioned.

He's definitely under contract but last August's announcement did not say for how long, under his bio it says the original contract he signed in 2022 was until 2027.

Ange/Frank/RDZ did not really trust academy players, two of those also saw him in pre-season and decided to off load/not use him even though we had a lot of fixtures in Europe and Domestically.

I think we have to accept he just is not up to the required level currently.

I don't think you can say DeZebri did not really trust academy, he had a few games to save the club from relegation not the same amount of time as the others and he rightly went for the most experienced players he had in that situation.

And we wouldn’t get close to £4.5m for him, nor should we. He hasn’t proved himself to be worth that. And no way PNE buy him for that price. I think it was just in the loan contract clause but never really had much chance to be exercised.

That’s not to say he didn’t play well. He did. But I think £4.5m is a significant fee for a Championship club still.

Preston have triggered the option. That's the reports. It's just up to the player now whether he goes there, goes elsewhere, or stays with us

Celtic are also now interested in him
