2022 World Cup... gonna ruin the European Season

Terrible 1st half, pressing is bad, nobody is passing it well and it's like playing with 10 men playing Mount in the team

Our play in possession is so slow. We need to move the ball quicker but we let the opponent set up and then have no clue how to break through their lines. I thought we showed differenve against Iran as we were playing well, but why didn’t we do that last night? The tempo was too low, and no players trying to run at the defence until Grealish came on.

Not that I think for one second England will win the tournament but I do tend to think criticism is a bit over the top (when isn’t it). This is a tournament, no team who wins the tournament ever goes through the group stages putting in great results and performances and then goes through the knock out stages all the way to win it as well. You are going to get the odd lacklustre performance, and if England just steam rolled every group game they would no way win the tournament. Most frequently the eventual winners start off slow/average and build momentum. America were set up well, and are way better than people thought they were but because people were talking as if it’s a foregone conclusion England would win they have to put it down to England being rubbish rather than America being decent.
They are a very energetic side, and whenever England did break the lines there were six,or seven and once or twice I counted eight back in defence for USA - that’s not easy to get through no matter who you are. And at the end of the day they still drew, and practically through already. It’s hardly a disaster…..

People are annoyed that he played Mount for 180 mins when he has been terrible all season, also Sterling shouldn't be an automatic starter either

Trippier isnt all that when the teams under the pump. He can't defend.
Starting to remember why we got rid of him.

If anything be was even poorer than in the first game, to me our game plan seems to attack wide and exploit the spaces that leaves in the centre, but none of our wide players can control the ball, pass it or beat a defender which has us grinding to a halt. I hate myself for saying this but Henderson showed more spirit than any of the others when he came on, an indication of how bad we were.

That would be my front 6, as for the defence, they all look pretty brick on paper.

I'd go

---------------------------Pope

Walker---------Stones-----------Dier-----------Shaw

-----Bellingham--------Rice-----------Mount

----Saka---------------Kane-------------Grealish

Getting a bit feisty between KSA and Poland. Can see a couple of red cards coming. Ref has let it go too far. Some bad elbows being thrown around with only yellow cards shown.

Great game this! KSA all over Poland, missed a pen and the rebound, but Poland have had 2 against the post
