2022 World Cup... gonna ruin the European Season

You are talking a religion. They believe that GHod thinks homosexuality is a sin. We're asking footballers to go to their country and tell them their religious beliefs are wrong. That their GHod is wrong. Don't think they'd take that well.

We already have a badge that represents our values, beliefs and mistakes. It has 3 lions on it.

Blimey you're a marketing mans dream, "our values, beliefs and mistakes" do the Welsh believe in dragons? Do the Japanesse worship the sun? What about the Isle of Man, good luck getting a pair of jeans there.

Boycott the blood service. Prevent? Wtf?

This is where the sjws become dangerous and are so wrapped up in their self righteousness they can't see it.
Read more about them

Gay men are still banned from giving blood in this country

And Prevent is a scheme that forces civil servants to spy on brown children. It is opposed by all main teaching and student unions

Very good result for Wales, despite struggling to get going they stuck in there and got a result, anyone know what the reaction in the States was to the USA teams performance?

My last on this as you asked (I promise)

Based on the fact they are effectively rounding up everyone who is gay and holding them under the banner that they are all mentally ill, I would say that's hate, especially as the religious interpretation doesn't even mention mental illness so its been added and created by the person that said it.

You don't associate being ill physically or mentally with something positive??

Any comment that's made to create uncomfortable or distrust is in my mind hateful, to say homosexuality is a mental illness, I think that's clearly a hateful.

This!

Regardless of if the person saying it actively hates gay people it's a hateful statement. That treatment of gay people is hateful and that kind of comment cannot be disconnected from how people are treated. Spreading hate is hateful even if one personally doesn't hate anyone imo. I think, as a shorthand, calling that hate is definitely fine.

I'd rather take my opinions on what is an illness or not from the big medical and psychological associations. There's a long and deeply troubled history of using medical and psychological language and practices to justify horrendous acts against whoever is seen as undesirable all over the world. That should be remembered, and the continuation of it should be resisted.

To be fair to Lilbaz there are places and situations in the world where I would not want to wear clothing with the three lions on them (not that I would anyway as I'm not English mind). Because just how clearly those mistakes are remembered.

That's more of an aside. On your point I definitely agree though. I'm not quite sure what the opposing point even is though.

Good start for Messi. 1-0 after 8 minutes. I like that they actually punish holding in the box now, although why England wasn't awarded a penalty is beyond me. But I like the relative low threshold that is set. It shouldn't take more to get a penalty than any other free kick.
Same with the added time, that actually reflects time wasted.
Collina is setting a presedence, like they usually do in the world cup. Shame it's rarely followed up by national associations.

Wish there had been some "sjws" within the leadership of FIFA. The Qatari government. Among the various Football Associations. Perhaps some brick would get done.

There are things that can change through raised awareness, asking nicely and waiting for people to change their minds.

I think most positive changes towards more equality and less discrimination has been helped by direct activism.

There was a chance for that here too. Someone willing to accept the personal risk and downside to make a real statement that I believe could have made a real impact. No such luck unfortunately.

I don't know how or why GB boycotting the blood service constitutes a danger. Most people do not donate blood.

I was born in England but consider myself British, I get annoyed that the only country in the world that gets blamed for historic events is England. France, Denmark, Norway, Russia, Belgium, Portugal, Iran, Italy, Germany, Turkey, America, Mexico, Peru, Egypt, China and numerous African and Asian states have conquered other nations and enslaved their people but they are ok. The most important point that everyone ignores is that it's not nations who commit these crimes but the rich and powerful in control. I'm sure none of my ancestors made the decisions that created the British Empire.

Such a shame GLC got injured and couldn't play in the WC. A few good performances and his value could have gone up. As far as Cuti is concerned, on the other hand, I wouldn't have minded if he missed it. Every game I'll be on the edge of my seat that he doesn't get injured again.

Britain was blmore successful at it than the rest so gets all the ire, its almost as if the rest are jealous.

He's injured when the national team is playing??? Must be really serious then. Never happened before!

I'm Norwegian, or history is not free from wrongdoing at all.

I guess the focus on Britain is greater than most when it comes to colonialism because it was the largest empire. But I don't think it's true that it's the only country that gets blamed. Not least when those evils continue to perpetuate suffering to this day.

I think it's natural that within any given country the evils of that county gets the most focus.

Would you think in Britain enough has been done now to truly have a reconning with the evils of the past? Time to move on? Or just also focus on France, Belgium and others?

I agree that it was the rich and powerful. Though by modern standards probably your ancestors had their problematic sides.

I see no real way of lessening the chances of these evils continuing or happening again other than focusing on learning about and from the evils of the past. Trying to have a real and deep reconning with what happened, how it changed the world, caused immeasurable suffering and continues to cause immense suffering to this day. Even though it wasn't the fault of our direct ancestors or ourselves.

For me we (collective we, across borders) have a long way to go on that. But I definitely agree, not just Britain.

Quite amateur by Romero, he had a knack of running over to his other defender when he doesn’t need to.
