The *WHEN* we go down thread

The last thing we should do is sell our most talented young players unless absolutely forced to, regardless of if we're relegated or not. For some of those younger players a season in the Championship playing for us, not out on loan, could be beneficial for their development. And could be a...

    OMT Badgers vs Eagles

Only got to watch the last 15 minutes for some reasons. Just caught the score at 1-1 with us having VdV sent off earlier. How did we play up until the red card? Very difficult to see how we turn this around, but will continue to hold some hope at least.

Focus needs to be on the next game for surezanf continually. With one exception, preventing further injuries. We're all hoping that players returning can help drag us out of this mess, but if by the time important players come back we've lost other important players how much of a difference will...

    OMT Badgers vs Eagles

For sure would be a huge call if Tudor goes for that. Could see the reasoning behind it if he does, but none the less not an obvious thing to do. Feels like a massive game. I definitely won't give up on hope until there's no hope left and this won't be the game that ends all hope if we do lose...

Could be, but unlikely. But the likelihood of him being better is a very good reason not to rush him back and risk another injury. Will have Romero back soon, but both Romero and VdV could pick up another injury/suspension and for a back 3 we need the two of them and Danso so rushing Danso back...

    OMT Badgers vs Eagles

Very much agreed. Really anything that gets some more ball playing centrally (CB and deep midfield). Gray at CB being one option. I would also think Gallagher as one of the deep midfielders, he's not great on the ball, but imo better than Sarr, Palhinha and most fluctuations/variations of Bissouma.

    OMT Badgers vs Eagles

While the Fulham result and performance for sure was disappointing I do think part of that was a result of going behind early. Drop in confidence etc. Despite a very much depleted squad we did actually create some opportunities against Fulham. Think a lot will hinge on the first goal (again)...

    OMT Badgers vs Eagles

Depends on the system/formation, but either way very limited options. And limited options at CB for a back 3/wing back system. Impossible to know how Tudor sees Souza. At least he got on the pitch. I doubt very much Tudor didn't consider starting him. But we don't know how far along he is with...

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Mostly after the 2-0, the second half for me when we had to get forward, play with risk etc. Game state. Didn't think the first half was a 2-0 half for them. They were better, but not by that much imo.

    OMT Badgers vs Eagles

He had no fit wingers other than Tel (if we count him as a winger). He had one fit first choice full back/wing back. He had two fit recognised centre backs. As well as obviously missing the closest thing we have to a deep playmaker in Romero. Difficult to play your preferred formation/style...

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Didn't think we were THAT bad... They scored early from a situation that imo clearly should have been a free kick, think that impacted the game quite a bit. We were obviously vulnerable and disjointed. Given that we had 2-3 players playing out of position, no left footer on the left hand side...

    OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur v woolwich *** 22.2.26

My understanding of being press resistant isn't just about being able to keep possession, but being able to progress the ball through pressure, do useful things with the ball even though under pressure. He is more high risk high reward in that regard compared to someone like Maddison for sure...

Gray returning to CB... It is the way.

    OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur v woolwich *** 22.2.26

Which would just make it even more baffling that we went a summer and January window without signing a single player that would improve our press resistance in deeper areas (defenders, deep midfield). While signing and paying significant wages for players in midfield that wouldn't do that -...

    Xavi Simons

Why would/should he have had qualms about that? The thing he imo should have qualms about is us bringing him here with a plan to leave him isolated as a ten while we play a horseshoe. Why we ask him to chase shadows and second balls instead of playing to his strengths. In this period of...

    OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur v woolwich *** 22.2.26

Absolutely agreed. And I struggle to see how that's any less (or more) balanced or suited to the players we have available than any other formation. A significant question mark over Souza there and his ability to perform in the PL this quickly. I guess there is an argument that we could in that...

    Johan Lange - Sporting Director

Maybe... Agreed on that "buy cheap, buy twice" as a principle. But it's also true that we needed a rather massive turnover of players at that time and weren't in a position to sufficiently get enough players in without some cheaper options being chosen.

    Johan Lange - Sporting Director

Think it's difficult to know for sure where the problem lies (or has been across different times with different people in charge). To me it's also on the entire "transfer committee" including on those who do the scouting to not just identify players with massive potential, that should in theory...

    Johan Lange - Sporting Director

Agreed. A lot of speculation, but ultimately we can't really know for sure. What seems clear is that he wasn't really trusted to be the lone DoF and probably that shouldn't be his role going into the summer either. But he can still be good at things he does well and useful to us.

    Igor the Departed

Fully agreed. Not being in the FA Cup and having a somewhat longer break before the NLD hopefully will protect them somewhat in the upcoming games. Part of Tudor's job now is to manage that conflict between the need for results, ideally quick results and the need to not worsen or extend the...
