Good half. Mostly good or better performances all around. Not a 2-0 half, but played well and had some margins going our way. Really impressed with our pressing. A midfield three of Palhinha, Bentancur and Sarr is such a pain to play against. Need to keep playing in the second. Keep pressing...

Really like how Richie and Kudus worked together against PSG, need Kudus, Sarr, Johnson getting close to Richi for that to work. The kind of thing I expect Frank to get right. Playing long is fine, but need a plan to make it work.

Question will be how we can progress the ball. Need good performances on the ball from those three, but probably even more than that we need Kudus, Porro and Romero at their best on the ball. Also interesting to see what Spence can do. At times last season he was unstoppable and a bit of a ball...

Spot on. And even if it doesn't work that doesn't mean a back 3 would have worked better. They're a fantastic team. A lot of hard work in that midfield 3, like against PSG. Kudus and Richarlison key, as against PSG. Looking forward to this, hopefully it will be good. Absolutely. Shows that...

    Kevin Danso

Absolutely. Fairly versatile (right sided, but can play on the left, fits a back 3 and 4). Big, strong, quick, good on the ball. Always that question of consistency over time that's always important with centre backs. But for what we paid seems a very good signing.

Think we always wanted another #10 option this summer. Maybe Maddison's injury changed what kind of #10 we were looking to sign? Impossible to know what the plan has been and is from the outside. I hope we're not in hail Mary territory, that would not say good things about our plans.

Solid descriptions, makes sense. My standard for "elite" is perhaps a touch higher than that, not that's just how we use words. I'm really excited to see how good Kudus can get. Agree that those signings that aren't obviously here and now great to everyone, but hit the ground running and turn...

Probably not imo. But we can't compare all our deals to excellent deals unless there are similar excellent deals available for us to make ourselves. Cherki had one year left on his contract iirc.

Spence has put in some really impressive defensive performances on the left. Sarr imo has to start and think it will be him Palhinha and Bentancur. Leaving the question of Richarlison and Kudus with a back 3 or a back 4 and another forward in. Think Richarlison and Kudus worked well as a...

Cherry pick our failures and the successes elsewhere and it turns out we look really disappointing. Strange how that works. Though probably more a result of the difficult feelings when we don't get a player over the line making those stand out rather than actual cherry picking. Whereas we have...

Compared to the starting points of most of our recent managers, and essentially all of our not so recent managers, if this is swimming upstream they were swimming upstream in a river of petrol while trying to smoke a cigarette.

It is subjective, but still a factor. I think the club seems at least ok at it.

    Maghnes Akliouche

Not really investing much in looking into players unless we get them or I already know a bit about them... What are your thoughts on Akliouche beyond what you say? Good signing? Here and now quality and potential? It seems our priority has been more ready made, PL experience (Kudus, Palhinha...

Which is why I advocate for evaluating a window after it closes (and then again a while after that). Then we'll actually know the outcome of this window. Palhinha isn't elite? Not having a go, just curious. Not sure I would say elite either, but defensively my expectations are up there for...

A Romano "here we go" is still about as close as it gets without being confirmed. It's not confirmed, but it's close. His overall rumours about this club wanting to do this and that seems more hit and miss.

Yeah, this is going to be really difficult. I guess another special operation is needed? Back 3. Long throws. Long balls. Massive balls. Give it to Kudus. Hope for the best.

Yes, it happens. A club may be seen as more attractive for many reasons. "More attractive option for the player" would perhaps be a better way to include those many other factors? But money and profile/recent success are massively factors. If a club comes in that is a more attractive option...

We've signed a lot of players in recent years. Imo quite a few rather good players too. Had a club with significantly more resources and/or higher current profile come in for those probably we would failed to materialise most of those signings too. That's kinda just what happens. Just like...

    Eberechi Eze

I agree. I want us to fail at getting players over the line in a way. The only way for that not to happen would be to target players who aren't good enough for teams that could "swoop in". It happens and what matters mostly to me is what the plan then is. We need multiple good targets for any...

🤣 I take it we have some agreement... I agree it's sometimes a factor, but mostly not.
