The comparison was with Johnson playing on the right, not as a striker. If he plays up top then his lack of touch and general technique is less of an issue if he is scoring, but that wasn't the case last year, so yes all the parts of the game hes not good at do indeed matter. They are part of...

He's too expensive for us. Our money would be better spent getting a cheaper DM (Ederson, Rios, Palhina, Hackney, Hujmund, Baleba etc) and also getting a striker imo. I don't really think any DM is worth 100m and whilst Wharton is very talented I don't see 100m in either tbh.

Sure but Gallagher was never their deepest midfielder or the man tasked with a primarily defensive role, so whilst I agree with you in principle he's really more of the same as what we already have. Players competent across a number of areas but none who actually excel defensively. Variety is...

Gallagher did NOT play DM for Athletico. He was a dual 8. De Paul played DM a lot more often than Gallagher did.

I think more likely left wing depth with Ralphina moving inside.

    Thomas Frank’s coaching staff

And he hasn't been particularly successful or impressive in those 3 jobs. Arguing that Poch might need to freshen up the ideas surrounding him is not controversial at all. Regarding Ange I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with his approach, but he is relying on his new staff being...

In the grand scheme of things we realistically want our players to be heavily desired by our rivals, it means we are doing something right.

    Mohammed Kudus

Rude was actually very technical it's just he specialised in scoring goals and was very good at it. I remember in the latter days of his career at Real Madrid he was basically playing AM and was surprisingly very effective doing so.

    Mohammed Kudus

I don't even dislike him, I just think he's really poor at the basics and thus is not a player I want to see in the technically demanding positions or roles in the team.

    Mohammed Kudus

Poor comparison, first Jimmy Greaves was a striker and secondly he scored at a rate that was undeniable. If Johnson gets 25+ goals a season in the league then his rudimentary football abilities will be more than made up for by his goal contribution but sorry he was playing out wide and we need...

I'm not even an advocate for the deep defense as you are but I agree he does very little defensively.

Yes the same Johnson who barely contributed in general game play, the same guy who contributed to us being penned in and being unable to play out. The same Johnson who regularly has less than 30 touches in a game, fewer than even the second half subs at times. I expect a little bit more from a...

And some drunk people were actually questioning who would start between him and Johnson. There are levels between them and it's not even close. 🤣 I'm really excited to see what Kudus can do for us this season. I know he's not perfect and he will have poor games, sometimes nothing will come...

Both should go, Son because he's past it and Richy because he was never it.

I think we can get by with Solanke for this season assuming we do the other needed business (MGW, DM, LB etc) and go for a higher calibre striker next season. I wouldn't be against that course of action tbh.

    ***Tottenham Hotspur v Reading OMT***

I have high standards so yes for me Solanke isn't quite there. Obviously we aren't challenging for the title any time soon but our goal should be to get the best players suited to making that goal a realistic ambition. I do like him as a player and he has lots of positive attributes but I'm...

Was this ever in question? The alternative is flipping Johnson.

To be honest we probably bed better than him. Solanke would be an excellent second option but he's quite the level we really want as the main starting option imo.

    Mason Melia

I can't remember the deal with him. Is he on loan currently or is he finishing up a spell with them before joining us officially later?

    Morgan Gibbs-White

The reports I've seen from the Nottingham Forest side of things claimed it was Marinakis himself he has vetoed the deal. Now how they know the ins and outs I don't know I don't know if they are creditable but this is narrative outside of Spurs forums as well.
