Naughty Emirates Marketing Project - Spot of Compo??

BTW...the talk around City and the possible severe punishments/sanctions is really fudging me off in comparison to the gonads punishment handed down to Chelsea.

Spurs were guilty of doing exactly what Chelsea did. In both cases new ownership made the League/FA aware and the points deduction and punishments were waved and only a fine was given.

I’d be fascinated to know the amount of money that’s being spent on the PR war around this verdict now.

Reason I say that is because I see stories like this and think…surely no one is going to allow this to happen? The politicians would surely not spend the political capital? The PM has no authority on this anyway. And it would so obviously be an egregious miscarriage of justice if unlimitedly wealthy people were allowed to continue on in our game without the fair sanctions that punished the extent of their cheating.

So I think…surely these stories are planted by the pro PL side? They must be designed to cause maximum uproar and out as much pressure as possible on the commission to make the right decision…..or maybe the City owners really are that oblivious to what they’ve done and the damage they are causing,

Say City get away with what’s perceived as a slap on the wrist. How would that play out?

I’d love to see a fan movement towards not watching them. When they are away the home fans boycott. When they are at home no away fans attend and the atmosphere is dead. When they are on TV general football fabs of other teams don’t watch.

I was actually thinking the same thing. And in the age of social media, it would be pretty easy to organise. It’s also something that could in theory be actioned right now. Part of me also does want to see the loudest boos ever anytime City are in possession from here on in though. We always know this case will be messing with the players heads. Creating a horrible atmosphere for them and reminding them that they represent a cheating club is going to sway a fair few results I’d imagine.

I don’t think they’re getting away with a slap on the wrist in any case, but they’re gonna be hated for a loooooooong time regardless.

As I've already said, I would be looking for my own club to boycott the Etihad games and not invite them to our stadium. I would like to see all 19 clubs create their own sanction if the PL sanctioning process isn't proportionate. It would be a real shame if the fans have to be the ones to make the stand. It really is up to the PL club directors that the PL leadership team report to (FAPL Ltd) to keep them honest.

Saying that, fan reaction is going to be interesting at Anfield next Sunday. It starts there.

This is where the FABs across the PL should be canvassing the opinion of their constituents and then speaking with their club FAB reps to put forward the fans' views and to question the club about the stance they intend to take. It's perhaps a bit early yet due to the pending appeal and sanctions not having been announced yet but they should be trying to get ahead of the game. Maybe it's not strictly in the FAB remit but it's an important enough subject to warrant a discussion.

I'd put money on the Liverpool support having some kind of banner.
It will of course be all about Liverpool being cheated out of all those trophies because they are rightfully theirs as they are the best team ever and never, ever do anything wrong.
Justice for the x amount of trophies.

Won't happen though, too much at stake for clubs to do anything, no one ever rocks the boat.

As much as this is dreadful for the game and the book should be thrown at City, I would suspect fans being fans, any uproar would last about 6 months and it would be back to normal.

Sad thing about this season is that if City don’t win it, Woolwich are the likely benefactors. That’s become less unpalatable reading this judgement but it’s still unpalatable.

If City were to win the league this season, it would be an incredible show of mental strength from Maresca and his players. The bad feeling it’s generated, the abuse they’ll get, the knowledge that whatever they do, the achievement will always be tainted and questioned. To overcome that would be incredible. It’d be grotesque, embarrassing and wrong for them to win the league this season but part of me would admire their players if they do it.

Hopefully City come prepared with a banner about the years we were banned from Europe because of the scousers.

I'm not that familiar with the Everton case, but would those missed qualifications have affected their financial situation enough to negate what they were docked points for?
Impossible to know but presumably playing in the UEL would have added prestige and improved their standing as a club, allowing them to buy a higher profile of player and probably improving their overall competitiveness and subsequently their financial standing assuming they used the increased revenue in a balanced manner.

That would be fantastic but it would need for fans to forget about watching their team and realise what City have done to whatever integrity there is left in the sport. Too big an ask.
Better to appeal to the tribal instincts and turn up with banners and chanting "Your just a bunch of cheats" etc throughout the game. See how the media ignore it
