The first goal came from Saudi Sportswashing Machine’s tactical decision to push their right back high and wide creating a spare man and dragging Robertson out of position. It happened in the first few minutes and was pointed out by Carragher throughout the game but it seems RDZ did nothing to combat it.

Yeah I found that a bit of a concern, that Tel’s instructions were seemingly not to track the full back. And then Elanga was Tonali’s responsibility rather than VDV’s, for some reason. Seems very easy to exploit if that will always be our system.

Yeah and I think Poch was seeing which players would truly buy in, giving players like Adebayor enough rope to hang themselves before deploying Mason, Bentaleb, Kane and Townsend and starting the ascent.

I think here the squad is in a similar position. I think De Zerbi is very conscious of not having anyone hanging about who isn’t fully bought in or doesn’t see Spurs as the best place for them. Hence the sales of Spence and the willingness to let anyone go who says they want to go. So the squad is still in this position of a few players probably not here for the long haul, and that’s going to make it harder for everything to click. Once the window is closed, players will have to lock in or be bombed out, and I think it will start to come together.

I don’t think this is a weakness so much as that we simply have to score from the chances we create if we are going to do this. We had opportunities. We just didn’t execute.

Yeah I do find the reaction to the result to be a little OTT. Yeah we lost but it wasn't a terrible performance by any means and whilst we didn't exactly pepper their goal, we did have opportunities and chances that we didn't take advantage of.

It's funny how binary this all is, because if Tel scores his chance or plays Marmoush back in instead of just kicking it at the defenders legs the game probably flips result wise and everyone is happy. I think we are focusing too much on the result and not the performance. The performance was decent and a good indicator of the future. The Brentford result wasn't so bad because of the 3 goals conceded it was the nature of the performance. We got thumped in that game whereas I honestly feel like 0-2 is not a representation of what we actually saw yesterday.

Honestly thought it was one of best performances for a couple of years. There was intent, chances created, and we attacked.

Yeah basically this. It's weird how we got gaslit into pretending the latter part of Ange's first season and the whole of the 2nd season was actually good football but now we have an actual decent performance but without the result people are losing it.

People forgetting he told us himself at the end of the season that he only had 11/12 players that were good enough. He clearly wasn't lying about how he felt about the squad quality. Now it's going to take time to get it all to gel.

That was an achievement. Yes even i think that and we are building up to that level but it won't done in one season.

I accept that and understand it. It's gonna be a turbulent season and we have to get on board the boat and roll with waves that are coming.
