*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v AFC Bournemouth ***

Well that was brick. Expected a tough game, but not that tough. It was men against boys for 75 mins. We atleast made it a contest in the last 15. Udogie, Odobert and Bergvall made a difference.

Hopefully Frank learnt some lessons though. That midfield 3 was strong and functional but totally devoid of creativity or fluidity. In some games that is needed, but hope we don't see too much more of it, assuming Xavi plays as a 10.

It was noticeable how they swarmed Kudus everytime he got the ball but weren't too concerned about the invisible man on the other side.

Astonishing that nobody made a move for Semenyo this summer, he was almost unstoppable today. Imagine him on our left side with Kudus on the right.

The Cherries too good for us as often the case with the so called lower teams. Let’s not forget where we finished last season so 6 points from 9 isn’t too bad. Tel is shocking there is NO doubt but there are positives here. I think we can push 8th or even 6th and a nice cup run.
I thought he played well when he came on. We looked a lot more dangerous. He got i to the space that existed Between their defence and midfield and opened things up.

Yes it was so clear that Kudus had been identified as the danger to be nullified and we didn’t have a plan to deal with that.
Early days so hopefully Frank will be on to that.
Shame we couldn’t have bought Xavi on!

Kudus was really poor today IMO, he needs to learn to pass the ball once he has beaten a player and the space has opened up instead of holding on to the ball and trying to. Eat another player and then another one again if he beats the second one. MUCH worse than that though he didn’t bother to track Bournemouth’s left back (who I thought was superb) every time he went forward. Bournemouth were constantly creating overloads on our right hand side and Kudus wasn’t doing anything to help us defend that. I was really surprised that he stayed in the pitch. I would’ve booked him at halftime or, if not then, the first time he failed to do it in the second half once he’d had a rollicking at halftime time.

Kudus himself didn’t help with that though. With 2 or 3 players around him there were numerous occasions where a simple pass to a better placed teammate was on but he instead kept the ball and tried to dribble. He has bundles of talent but needs to play for the team more, same with his defending today that was really poor, he massively left Porro out to dry having to defend both Semenyo and thei Bournemouth left back

Yeah, he did struggle today with no time and space. He was good in the last 15 when we had threats elsewhere on the pitch which afforded him some breathing room. Hopefully with Xavi coming in we will have more for the opposition to worry about.

Thought he was our best outfield player personally, even though he was poor.

Only one who could control the ball, dribble and progress it up the pitch. Dunno who he was meant to pass to? Numerous times he looked to and nobody was anywhere near him or making a run.

When we finally woke up he sent in a cross across the box and nobody moved.

i thought he was one of our worst. The main cause of our problems defending our right hand side and with a free pass not to defend against his opposite number (and I certainly hope it was a free pass from Frank not to) then he needed to be way better when he actually got possession. You cannot constantly ignore players in better positions and hold onto the ball like he did today:

It was a real contrast to the way he worked back against City.

I thought it was a naive midfield selection. Emirates Marketing Project will play at a slow pace which is ideal for Bentancur and Palinha. But Bournemouth were always going to break quick. Needed Bergvalls energy instead of Bentancur.

just felt like today we struggled to hassle them cos they broke with speed. TF is still learning the players so hopefully we come back stronger against the more direct teams.

Observations from the stadium: Richarlison isn't a viable hold-up target. And I was disappointed in Romero as on-field captain. I didn't see him do anything to marshal the troops, to inject any energy or motivation or sense of urgency or game management, and I saw him get on the ref only once. He played decently, but seemed dejected and one-note. He had a bad fall after a contested header and didn't seem quite right after that, so maybe that was the reason, but as captain he can't play so within himself when 1-0 down and the team and crowd utterly lacking in energy.

Looking forward to the match! My first game at the new stadium and my son's first Tottenham match ever. Today we'll see if Tottenham is a better version of themselves and doesn't squander the good performance against City away.

Hoping for a new player presentation before the match.
Really sorry it wasn’t a win, especially for your son. Hopefully you still managed to enjoy the stadium and your son hasn’t been put off for life.
