Thomas Frank - Head Coach

I feel sorry for him having to swim upstream for the entirety of his time here so far.

But this is an excellent answer that I think we all needed to hear. If someone doesn't want to be here, fudge 'em.
Compared to the starting points of most of our recent managers, and essentially all of our not so recent managers, if this is swimming upstream they were swimming upstream in a river of petrol while trying to smoke a cigarette.

I like the fact that I can understand what he is trying to do with the team and the way it is set up. I love a tactical manager that doesn’t just do things to give it a go.

He looks like he will have the measure of a few managers off he carries on like this

What's amazing is that, not only did we beat City, we outplayed them. I think out of the last 19 games against City, this is only the second time we had a higher xG than them.

This wasn't us sitting back - we completely nullified them, pressed aggressively, set up high, and won nearly every individual battle.

I'm generally skeptical of this newfound love for defensive solidity - like with the first ten games of Ange, I think it's more just a reaction to our absolutely yawning defensive lapses last season. And once we get a few frustrating 0-0s and 1-0 losses, the groaning will return, because this club is not built to tolerate defensive football for long. It's in our DNA, nothing wrong with it - just the way we are.

But that *isn't* what Frank is doing. He isn't being defensive - he is genuinely setting up every game in a way that nullifies the opponent and plays to our strengths, with a high press key to it all.

It's an enormously encouraging start, from a guy who seems to thoroughly know what he's doing and has sailed through the transfer chaos with absolute nonchalance.

Long may it continue. :)

So what you are saying is that our tactics are not just to run around like donkeys on steroids and hoping for the best?

Pep will retire from club football soon.
Commentary said that Pep has only been beaten in consecutive home games by the same team, twice.
Today was the second time.

....and just maybe WE CAN knock'em all over one by one, week by week by tweaking, tinkering, and tactical nous?
