2025/26 pre-season

Spence really isn't half the player at LB as he is at RB. Ange's (lack of) formation covered that up a bit, but in an organised setup it shows.

Said this before, but I never jumped on the Spence bandwagon last season. I saw some fantastic stuff from him but need to see the full package. He is lackadaisical in his defending even though pretty good one-on-one when he applies himself.

Spence needs to learn to cross the white line and find consistency and intensity in his defending. He should look across at Porro and see a fantastic professional that achieves this every game. Spence doesn't.

Spence is no use to Spurs long term if he's only up for certain types of games. When you're up against BM away from home and you have that level of player coming at you then you need to really be up for it. You need to adjust your normal game.

I think realistically, we all know we are not likely to win anything this season. We have won our trophy and it gives us a bit of time to settle.

Frank has only been here two or so months and hasnt had time to implement his system. I think Ange's system was quite easy to implement as it was just gung ho and didnt focus on all defense and attack, just attack.

If we have a solid defensive season, with the odd wins against Arsenal, Utd, or any of the top 4s, I think that will be a positive season for us, and qualify for Europe again, albeit it will be tough.

Unfortunately that is where we are again, no where near top 4, or challenging for the title but will be tough to beat (I think) and looking out for wins against Arsenal being our highlight of the season. Ie Jol & Redknapp early years.

Our squad as it stands is very poor, with Madders and Kulu out long term.
We need a quality striker, a couple of decent attacking mids, and probably a left sided cb who can cover lb too.
Years of terrible recruitment has led to this. The money has been spent, but on punts like Tel, Sarr, Gray, Bergvall and Oderbert. Of these only Bergvall looks a top player. Romero and Porro the only standout buys really. I think Kudus will be a good signing.
We overpaid massively for average journeymen like Solanke and Richarlson.
2 weeks before season start and we have a worse squad than last season.

My main worry is who Sky are going to have as the player to be superimposed beside our team name when we are involved in a televised game. With Harry long gone, Son now joining him, and Maddison out for most of the season, we are massively struggling in this area.

I'm not bothered about the Bayern result. It again just reaffirms to me that top 10 finish is what we should be aiming for and would represent brilliant progress from last season. There was a gulf in quality between the two teams and our defenders just arent good enough against top opponents and without a creator in midfield we struggle to carry an offensive threat meaning our defence is placed under more pressure. Saying that you pit the 8th - 9th PL team away against Bayern and the result will likely be similar so no reason to change my view that lower top half is achievable. Luckily Ally Gold's latest video says the club are prioritising a centre back and no. 10 which are aligned to my view of where we are lacking.

Ange's system was easy to implement? Lol! Tell that to Emirates Marketing Project. Y'all ain't learned nothing yet!

Something my old man told me - you stand a better chance of winning when you are with a winner..

Compared to what time last season? The start. The end? Times when we also then missed key players to injuries? Or imagining last year's squad injury free?

We're lacking some key ingredients, we're probably lacking a standout attacking player. But the squad to me has a lot of strength and potential in it. Missing Solanke, Kulusevski and Maddison at the same time, Maddison and Solanke in particular being players at lack options for is bad for us no doubt.
Well we ve only bought 1 player who improves us from last season and thats Kudus.
We ve lost Son , who though past it still got 10 goals last season. Mafd we rs and Kulu out long term,so Im scratching my head to see how we start theseason in a better spacr than say, how we ended last season, Europa Cup aside.
Just saying without a few top incomings i think we are going to struggle.

We've also loaned Palhinha, a player I think will improve us. I'm quite hopeful that Kudus will have a similar impact to an ageing Son who was definitely starting to look past it.

The injury to Maddison for sure sets us back. But if we're comparing to how we ended last season Maddison was injured then too. Comparing to other times last season we had injuries galore.

I agree we need to strengthen, particularly in the 10/AM position. But ideally elsewhere too. I would be shocked if we're done for the window.

Your attempt would need to be honed over years of studying lunchtime playground games at schools around the country.

Or unless you stand with absolute losers and then it is easy for you to win, ie Celtic.

If you watched the pre-season and first ten games we looked like world beaters and very very attacking. He got it into our players very early on.

Defensively we were atrocious even in those first ten games and pre-season friendlies.

Frank is working on everything so it will take time, hence why I dont think this season will be exciting. It will take longer to implement his system, than it did with Anges. Nothing out of the ordinary said there, I dont think.
