will be great to get him back, him and Danso should be a real solid no fudging around pairing
Porro, Spence, and Udogie should all be good options as more conventional wingbacks in a back 5.With a manager that won't have them constantly running back towards their own goal, outnumbered, would be nice.
Really wouldn't be surprised if the next manager doesn't at least look at 3atb, pretty much everyone in our back line has some experience playing it, and some mix of 3 out of Romero, VDV, Danso, Dragusin could be interesting.

We'll manage to Spurs it all up somehow though. Sounds like Romero may be off, for a start.

3 at the back is a dog brick formation. Too defensive and yet defenders hate playing it.
You are basically playing a CB instead of a CM, so losing ballplaying capacity and possession/competitiveness in the most important part of the pitch.

Agreed.Glad to hear he's part of all squad meetings and feeling good about his recovery.
Don't think a player that's going to be marginalised and not in Frank's thinking would get an official announcement and video for a shirt number change.
Good luck to him, thought he did well when he played and he is only 23 so should push on.
I'm with you, as you said playing under Ange would have made Baresi & Maldini look ponyI have always been confident that this guy will be massive for us. I’m not judging his performance under Ange as the way we set up defensively even VVD is would look shocking in that set up.
Ali G said that Drag is looking beefier nowadays."I've been working hard on and off the pitch" are the key words in that interview.
That sounds promising that he's quite a way through his recovery process.

When a player like Drag is passing a ball 15 yards to a colleague, he will kick it at them, it will have a bit of bobble and be slightly behind them or slightly on their left foot instead of their right foot, so they have to control it for half a second and *then* do something.
Whereas a more cultured footballer will choose the same player to pass to but it will be half a second earlier, smooth with no bobble, into their stride, on their correct foot, even slightly outside of their 'footprint' so they are already moving forwards or wide to enable the next pass.
It is hard to measure, but that is the small margin in these simple passes.
Dragu and danso are very good no fuss defenders for the PL with some of the more physical teams.Agree, but in that 18 yard box Dragu wins everything. He would play against Haaland and own him physically. His aerial presence on the corners and set pieces is a different level to our main 2 centre halves. I've watched Davies conversion from LB to centre half over the years. Look closely and you see that certain forwards allow Davies to look half decent. Others make him look a Championship defender at best. I sort of feel that way with Dragu but think his ceiling is way higher. There are so many games where Dragu could be exactly what we need in this very physical PL. Those frequent "dull as ditchwater" games we see all the time in the PL could be made for Dragu. I could see him getting unsung hero status.
