Mathys Tel

Game changer today
Really growing into the side game by game
his corner was great too
Thought richy was odd …but that’s him
Tel just has a confidence about him that if we can unless then boom.
he's got the tools, the attitude and mostly he's always getting involved.
hope he joins permanently, very high ceiling and could be a formidable pairing with odobert (future world cup winners).

He seems to always want to be involved which is great for his age
Doesn’t shy away from anything
He hadn't been here long when Ange was getting stick I think away at Fulham and he came right up to the crowd and told them to lay off of him.

That said all I needed to know about this young guy's mentality - he's got 'it'. Very talented footballer too.....

He has the mentality
He has the tools
The package needs to come together

So who would take the option to make his move permanent, now we've seen all we're able to?

I probably would not, principally because we already have Odobert and Moore as young left-sided options, with potentially higher ceilings (both are more creative/better ball players). I think we are also so well stocked on that left side in general, if he was a right sider I'd be more tempted.

If (and a big if) there's any truth in the rumour that we could be getting Sane on a free I doubt we'd be looking to buy Tel.

I understand why you say that, but they are however different sides (Sane is right, Tel left) and a decade apart in age, so dont have to be mutally exclusive. Also one is a fee, one is a salary

Completely agree. If anything I feel Odobert has been hampered by too many left sided players. I’d be happy with him, Son and Moore for at least one more season. Then reassess once Son goes.

Sane plays both left and right, so no, they're not different sides, but Sane is more flexible. Sane is 29 and has a few years left in him. He has loads of experience which we could use with such a young squad. Sane isn't going to cost 60m+ in wages unless he signs a 5-6 year contract, Tel will cost more than that. We could use the transfer money in other areas that need strengthening. I'm not against signing Tel, but if Sane is gettable I'd prefer that option.

I'd take him on loan for another season. He seems a bit expensive for what he is at the moment to me. Some potential definitely but I'd like another season to evaluate his game.
