Formula One on Sky

I can understand what he means. Every fudging little incident is scrutinised by stewards, and a lot of the races are decided by steward after the race is finished! In addition one can certainly question the consistency of decisions, or rather lack of!
If drivers are unhappy with each other, then so be it! Let them fight it out in the paddock after the race. Less bureaucracy, more entertainment!

he should think back a couple of years, his first world title was gifted to him because the FIA were fed up with Hamilton (rightly) making them look bad over his support for BLM

its a technical sport, it should be ruled by technicalities

he's a prick, can't wait to see him disappear down the field when he moves to a car that isn't 5 seconds a lap faster than the rest

Isn't that what happens to all of them? Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso etc..

Thought the starting grid looked interesting today so thought I'd pop in after our game and watch the race - started at lap 9 I think - now it's 17, and absolutely fudge all has happened. 51 laps to go. Oh there Bearman goes past Hamilton. Russell is leading - so why is Hamilton so brick? The commentators are asking "why is his car so brick?" - isn't it the same as Russell's? Or have they made it crap because he's going to Ferrari? 😅

I know nothing about the specific situation here, but the two team cars are rarely the same at teams higher up the grid, and yes, drivers who are known to be moving rarely get the upgraded parts.

I did not know that! Thanks. 😊 Why aren't they though? Shouldn't the team cooperate to make the best car for both racers?

They wont' always have equal parts, so the better bet for wins/points gets the better equipment, likewise, if a new development is being tested, they might not want the idea going to another team with a driver who is moving.

Sometimes it's just driver preference on roosterpit setup, its an old example but Jacques Villeneuve used a different clutch system to most other drivers, so his car had a completely changed pedal and paddle setup.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the insight. 😊

Norris has made mistake after mistake today. Seems to have problems keeping a cool head when it matters. Never imagined Verstappen would win this race from 17th, but he kept cool and didn't make mistakes. Norris made several. Only had himself to blame.

Yeah, completely bottled the title today, has killed all the momentum he had.

Is this the season where it's going to get more fun and more about who is driving versus what car they are driving? Or am I mistaken?
2026 is the year the regs completely change - so should be more that way.

This year will be interesting in different ways.
Six rookie's - anything could happen there. Adds more jeopardy. The midfield could get quite messy.

Red Bull without Adrian Newey.
I'd expect Verstappen to still be leading the pack - but it won't be a given.

McLaren should walk the Constructors. They'll favour Norris, but I think Piastri will make that difficult - he's the better driver.... just .They'll end up battling eachother, so MV won't have much competition over the long term...... although my gut feeling is Piastri will be his biggest challenge.

Ferrari. Who knows. Will be interesting.

There are some good drivers in "lesser" cars - they'll shake things up.

I do think a lot will be highly determined on the Saturday though.

Nice. Thanks for the write up! Newey was their head engineer, right? And he went to Aston Martin or something? I like Piastri a lot, Norris as well - I reckon McLaren is my favorite team out there. Cool cars as well. I hope Hamilton does well for Ferrari, though. :)

I think Norris has more talent and higher speed when in the zone. The faster driver on talent. But he can tilt or lose his sh1t more easily.

Probably McLaren vs Redbull again. The first race tells a lot. Although last year it was exciting because the opening race didn’t reflect the whole season with McLaren getting better and red bull not advancing.

Can Ferrari get in the mix?

Completely agree with all of that.
I have a feeling this is the season where Piastri takes that next step - and he'll be consistent. He also seems to have more of a winners attitude.
But of course he'll be hamstrung by being the no.2 (1.5 - McLaren are good at giving equal seniority. That's both a strength and weakness) - as the season goes on I think he'll surpass Norris. That'll ensure Max wins the driver's again.
I expect to see Max Vs Piastri in 2026.

Ferrari - it'll be interesting. I think they'll challenge McLaren, but it'll never be in doubt. They'll be solid - lots of 4-8th's, with a decent few podiums and two or three wins. I think they'll beat Red Bull. Your expect McClaren to have two cars top 5/6 in almost every race.
That said, I think Ferrari will be good in quali - and Hamilton is tough when you're in his mirrors.

Mercedes Vs Red Bull for 3/4th. Lawson will be interesting - lots of talent and drive. He could easily become the new Max or the new Hulkenberg.

Red Bull without Newey - who knows?!
Re; Newey. We won't see any impact, if at all, under the second half of the season. But no point in having a really good car if you just let Lance Stroll drive it into a wall.

Feel bad for Sainz. Such a good driver. Why didn't anyone but Williams want him, or why did he choose Williams? Seems like such a massive downgrade for him. Aston Martin should've let papa's boy go and get Sainz in.
You've nailed it.

Red Bull - had a circus with Perez.
Ferrari - had Hamilton; you don't keep Sainz.
Mercedes - politics. You don't replace Hamilton with the guy he displaced at Ferrari.
McLaren - are sorted.

Which only leaves the one Aston Martin seat; and they have gone all in for a 26/27 Newey bonanza. I suspect you'll see two new drivers in 2026. Alonso has to call it a day sometime?!
It fine to let Stroll play bumper cars when you'll finish 5th, 5th, or 5th. But when you have a Newey car, you need a (ahem) New-ey driver

I'll suspect we'll see Sainz back in 2026.
Although it's worth keeping an eye on Williams - they are building something nicely. Vowles seems to be very shrewd.
