Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Have to be honest, I loved his answer and his approach to this stuff. Vicario needs to be stronger, Ange needs to set his team up a bit better on this stuff. To be fair, he combatted it second half with Sarr protecting Vic albeit Vic still flapped badly at a couple of corners.

He really doesn't do the dark arts at all and, while that may cost us now and again, I find it refreshing.

It's another one of those where he's emporweing players by putting the responsibility on them.

He's not going to use 'dark arts' as a strategy, per se. But if the situation called for it and say Romero wanted to indulge, I don't think he'd discourage it.

If it became a distraction or bordered on cheating, then he might have an issue? That's kinda how I read it anyway.

Definitely refreshing.

Fair enough to not want to care about it being done by our players, but he kind of has to care about the oppo doing it to us. It has to be nullified.
The only thing that has to be nullified in those situations is giving away goals. Stop getting distracted by something stupid and concentrate on getting the ball clear.

The worry is that probably every single one of us on here knew that White would be blocking off our keeper when Arsenal had corners, yet it took until the second half before we tried to do something to mitigate it. That is the sign of a poorly prepared team. In a sport where games are often decided by small margins that is poor.

As Arsenal had their first corner on Sunday the bloke sitting next to me at the game said ‘That’s a surprise that Arsenal aren’t trying to block Vicario’…. I said ‘they will, White is standing behind him now but will move in front of him as the corner is taken’.

If I know that but our coaching team don’t/don’t care then that is an issue.

You're absolutely right on that. We should have had someone blocking off whoever they put in front of Vic. That's poor management and that's on Ange. It's been going on for months so it couldn't have been a surprise.

Ignoring the antics is a separate issue though and I like his approach to that.

That’s my point. You stop giving away cheap goals by nullifying an oppo strategy - and that means making it ineffective.

It was scarily obvious that it was gonna happen
And them lining up back post too

For all we know he did tell someone to stand there and intercept. Telling someone to do something doesn't mean it will actually happen.

Mason by lunchtime then? Dressing room looks gome

Season's pretty much over anyway. Ange will stay.

We'd better not start next season like late era Poch though. This way team and our season is falling apart is reminding me of the shambles he oversaw in his last year at the club.

Feels worse than that. We were still getting miracle of amsterdam performances scattered around then.

De Zerbi has just shortened rapidly to 4/1

Will be interesting to see if we as a club have learnt anything.
Managers want and need their own players if they are going to play their system, players that totally buy in and want to be here.
Poch flagged it up, jose came in and found out Poch wasn't far wrong and conte discovered that it goes deeper than the players.
We need to give ange the players he wants and the time to mold them into a team.

We'd be a fool to sack ange now, especially for someone like de zerbi, Potter, silva or the guy at Bournemouth who I can't spell.
Nuno isn't gone that long that we can't remember how that can turn out.

We can’t sack Ange
He needs time
He needs to shop out players who can play his game .. that’s the brave call
He will be IMO fine
But if he ain’t brave his is gone

He isn’t going anywhere, we will finish around 5th when most had us about 7th after losing Kane. About time kneejerks stopped and a manager was actually given time to put his methods into practice
Have we had a good performance since November though. Or are we just getting worse and worse? Despite having all the training time in the world/half the fixtures of our rivals

I would agree in general, but you need to see some signs that things are heading in the right direction. This summer is too soon of course as the squad clearly needs a lot more work, but you can't just pretend everything will work out three or five years down the line if you just keep believing and spend more money. Ange and his coaches are supposed to add something to the mix as well.
