I just don't see it with Poch. Sorry.
Trust me, it's a name he wants. I don't think he will get him, but I suspect 8 mill would make Kenwright happy. They could then get a Malchay McKay (sp?)…lot of loan players, etc…again, I think Pochettino then De Boer is the realistic order, but the looks at Martinez are real.
Steff, if we are in fact trying for Martinez to the point where it's getting known in the media do you think we're "going in cold" by approaching Everton and waiting for their permission to talk to Martinez or do you think we would have some reason to think that Martinez would accept?
I would have to believe there's been some signs that he's interested...again, I still cannot see it happening, but...I have to say, I'd be pretty happy personally. The bit that never made sense to me was how a manager of his relative integrity would work with Levy? He's always had chairman who support him implicitly; this would be next-level pressure. He could well be ready though...
What about the director of football thing Steff? If I remember rightly Martinez tuned down Liverpool because he wanted more control over transfers.
Indeed...and as I have heard it for a while now, Baldini is going nowhere. So 'perhaps' this will come down to how many players he thinks he will need versus what he would walk into versus his relationship with Baldini. I'm interested to know, for example, where Baldini fits into a De Boer situation. There are a lot of variables which don't add up for me...sometimes I wonder if DL fully thinks through his deepest wishes to be honest. To be fair, I simply don't think a manager like Martinez would work with a chairman like Levy, but above and beyond everything (and the silent factor this summer) is that Lewis wants CL and he will get a stadium built for 17/18 as he wants to 'maximize' his investment...and who knows what influence that could have on the managerial issue!

We want him. The papers have just caught on too. I still don't think we'll get him. My money, right now, would be on Pochettino. De Boer, I suspect, didn't do himself many favors last week.

Interesting press comments from De Boer coming out, this from Gazetta dello Sport in Italy:
Frank de Boer has spoken to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport this week about various things including his style of football, young talents at Ajax and, of course, the rumours that he's likely to be Tottenham Hotpsur's next manager.
The Premier League club last week denied that they'd contacted Ajax to ask about De Boer becoming their manager, but the man himself has again contradicted that and said Spurs were in touch.
The Dutchman also explained that he thinks Tottenham are currently happy with Tim Sherwood and were just sounding him out as a possibility for the future, which may be lip service to please Sherwood after he lashed out at the De Boer stories last week.
De Boer told Gazzetta "They talked informally with Ajax about my contract. I think they are quite happy with their manager (Tim Sherwood), but it is normal that they get information about a possible successor, as have Liverpool in the past. Liverpool had four candidates and asked me if I was interested. That time I said I wanted to stay at Ajax."I'm very happy here, but if a club came with an interesting perspective and a good team, I would consider the proposal. I want to understand what contribution I could give."
Tottenham probably won't be too pleased that De Boer has insinuated their statement last week was incorrect, but few believed Spurs hadn't made contact with anyone about a new manager.
I think words have been had between him and the club about the delicacy of the situation and he's been coming out backtracking in a couple of recent interviews.
Pulis has confirmed he'll be at Palace for next season.
Typical flooding the club with money, but with added changing the name of the club and the colours of the club. All as a corporate branding exercise.
Imagine turning up next season to see us as coca cola hotspurs in a red kit.
