***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Palace OMT***

Didn't realise there is another international break coming up :mad:

There always is. Why they can't group them together and scrap nations league. So you only play qualifiers in summer or winter windows, i don't know.

Ofcourse i know, because they think it makes more money. It doesn't. Change the nations league to be the qualiers. But a league of 8-10 teams. Promotion and relegation. Over 2 years. Competitive games with meaning.

Highlights on the beeb are pants for a second week running.

We are a very good side that doesn't convert enough of our chances. I fancy another month or two and that will stop being an issue as we grow under RDZ.

The great thing about today for me was the incisiveness in the final third. If we keep developing this way, we are going to blow teams out of the water.

We were against ten men, but that was such a ridiculously dominant performance. We’ve looked a class above for significant stretches of matches this season, but now we’re getting the rewards. The final third piece, it was the pace of the passes in, and the quick one touch around the area. No hesitation, no thinking too much about the next one, just rapid fire and impressive because all Palace were trying to do was defend. Really good sign.

And then the rest of the team, to a man dominant. Hard to call out any other player individually; because everyone was so good. We win the ball back quickly, intelligently and with strength, and then we know what we’re doing to move the ball up.

And the great thing is also RDZ’s comments on playing like a team. It’s the culture and cohesion that is arriving. Everyone bought in, everyone raising each other’s standards, wonderful to see. We’ve now done it away at a tough place for our club, and at home to a low block team defending for their lives. There’s been one truly bad performance this season, on the opening day. Bodes extremely well.

The whole thing needs to be looked at, who is benefitting from San Marino v England/Spain etc?

Europe and South America are the only regions that don't have different stages of qualifying, and South America has 10 teams

I like the idea of having them all at the end of the season instead, then those who have no interest can switch off

Well in two months hopefully we’ll sign a new striker and get it done early in the transfer window.

For now I’d try Kulusevski there.

Interesting idea. I think it's more like to be Marmoush up top with Deki behind him, but with RDZ who knows!

It’s such a Eurocentric view though. What about other confederations around the world? As an example, what would have happened to Sonny if Europe/England suddenly didn’t align with the rest of the world’s international windows?

It’s annoying to have breaks, especially so early in the season, but it’s the very thing that seeds the World Cup, which is far and away the most exciting sporting event.

It’s been largely ruined by FIFA imo.

It’s now bloated, overly-long, primarily a money-making scheme, and the ridiculous amount of qualifying (and non-qualifying) international games in the years preceding the tournament lead to overkill.

I watched very little of this year’s World Cup, and I watch very little international football nowadays.

Love me a bit of a crushingly dominant home performance against a parked bus again. We used to complain about these games under Poch, how we just passed sideways looking to find an opening. What a luxury. Loved this game. I think we did really well finding pockets of space, although we would’ve probably found more with Maddison in there. Loved LWB’s cameo! He’s physically up to it, then, and we all know he’s got the rest of the skills in his locker. Needs to get more minutes from now on, in my opinion.

First goal in PL history while sat on your arse as well! Some feat.

Loved the game but was left wondering what we could do better to get that second goal earlier in these types of game. I don't mean this in a negative way. Perhaps we were just unlucky that it didn't happen earlier anyway. Perhaps these less than clinical mid-range shots we had will improve as well.

I was lucky cos I watched the game on repeat. I'm sure those of you watching it live had some anxiety about the 1-0 scoreline for a reasonably large period.

Anyway 10 points from 12 in October is great. I don't think anyone could see that coming. 9 from 9 in November would be great before te tough December comes along.

I think it's difficult and easier said than done to break down teams with ten men who are being defensive. But for us compounded with no true no.10 Maddison/Simons type player makes it harder.

Even then we still should have done better either way chances we did create, I think we performed well....

Yeah, we did play well again. I'm only having the continuous improvement conversation.

xG = 3.26
Shots = 34
On target = 9

As good as we've seen, so hopefully the scoreline was the anomaly. It did feel more like a 4-0 to be fair.

I think having a player sent off so early really effected the game. The number of fouls conceded by Palce was low when you consider the amount of time they spent defending, it may have been the fear of getting more cards or that we moved the ball quicker before they could put in a challenge.
It's still early days in the development of the team but the increase in confidence is impressive. The two recent away results and performances must have helped.

I'm just happy the tide seems to be turning at home. The atmosphere is feeling more positive - I appreciate it's always chicken and egg in terms of the players need the fans to get behind them, but the fans want to see performances and results to get behind the team. So was happy to see us win two on the bounce at home regardless of performance but we have been playing well.

I'm sure there will be plenty of bumps on the way, but I believe we can have a good season with Madders, Kulu, and eventually Simons and Odobert to return to the fold for the second half of the season plus the excitement of LWB cameos....
