Roberto De Zerbi *OFFICIAL*

My concern is there is a perfect storm brewing. Losing against Villa then going into a 3 week break bottom of the league fuels the narrative. That will continue unopposed because we can’t play until the break is over. Then we play Man U. And as bad as they are, unfortunately I think we’re worse. We lose that and have any result other than a win against Coventry and I fear for the manager. I think he needs to be given time, but I just can’t see how the board will view it

Agree, the problem is it's way bigger than RDZ.

If RDZ fails in any way, if we have to pull the trigger pre December, then I think the Lange/Vinai conversations come up again, at best there will likely be one (even if as a spacegoat) if not both, so your problem becomes manager +senior leaders in club to replace, +January window that will become critical to any course correction.

Good news if any, is we have the new guy coming in, and there are at least a couple managerial options???

Yeh, that is my concern. The narrative is already written by the press and is only going to get worse, its rare that managers survive it, some have but its hard work. Also given his fiery temperament you wonder how broad his shoulders are when it comes to being pressed on certain subjects.

This next run of 6 games is crucial, we have to be looking at picking up wins and the three home games look most likely

Fear for the club not the manager. The cúnts in charge kept Frank on till it was almost too late…RDZ could have 10-15 points for the first 20 games and i guarantee you this lot won’t pull the trigger because it will expose them for being the clueless Cretins that they are.

Let’s hope that’s all mute and RDZ turns out to be a fúcking storm trooper.

Still think part of your response is emotion mate (and that I get)

It is.
I am a human being and as such, sometimes express myself emotionally.
Do you see how patronising your above comment looks? Anyway, I'm sure you'll view this in the same light LOL...

FWIW, I went back and read your bits, happy to admit I misunderstood, maybe still don't get your point, e.g for me, Gallagher is just a hustler, type of player that is a pain in the ass to play against regardless of how effective, do I believe he is useful for us now? yes, do I think we should need him? no.

I've repeatedly said the same about Gallagher.
Yesterday we needed him. It confused me too.
I think evaluating the 10 under De Zerbi, it is important to note he has a very different idea of what a 10can be than, say, me. I don't see Gallagher as MY 10, I don't see Kudus as MY 10, however he has a way of seeing the position which is different.

What other factors are at play? Ange is clearly a philosophy/tactic that has been found out at this level (and even then, managed 5th with Spurs in first season), his predecessor managed 4th before imploding. Frank had no functioning tactic unless you considering banging the ball to Kudus and spamming crosses to no one a tactic. RDZ has obvious tactics but they are clearly not the current meta and are not working (yet).

With Ange. We walked away from a squad that won something. We walked away from a squad that had put two years in the hard way. And we walked away from seeing what could've been.
Frank?
No argument from me, a disasterous appointment.
RDZ's tactics in terms of creating chances/situations to make chances have actually been working well, it is the execution. He needs elite players; that is the bind we are in, because we do not have elite finishers or many goals in the side.

I'll say it again, all three managers (vastly different in general approach), so far are making the same mistake, getting the basics wrong (you don't concede 3 at home and expect to win). And RDZ is feeling quite Ange in the conversation, if we had x player it would work, or if we cut out individual mistakes it would work (ignoring the system leaving you exposed), or if the players gave more (this squad should not need to be at their best to beat that Villa side or Forest)

I disagree that our system under RDZ leaves us exposed, we simply have not defended well enough. What system exposed us for the first and second goals on Saturday? Those were mistakes, and multiple in the same move. How can RDZ be expected to finish chances? How can he be expected to defend situations we've prepared for all week?

Now do I believe in momentum (and the belief or lack of that it creates)? absolutely, and that's why I still think the biggest mistake this club ever made was letting Frank last as long as he did, it turned a blip season into a habit, and we still can't break that habit. And maybe your perspective is more "leaders" do, mine would be do the basics, grind some wins, learn what it is to win again, don't aim to fly when you can't walk.

See, you're making it an 'either or' thing. I don't understand why. What you're saying stands as a fact, what I'm saying is an opinion as to what we need to help us do that.
In order to execute the basics and grind some wins, you need leader on the pitch, people who will stand up and be counted. In the final 7 games last season I saw it from Palhinha, Danso, Tel, Bentancur, Maddison. We need players to step up in that fashion and both be brave on the ball and also fierce without it/when something goes wrong. For 20 minutes on Saturday we became limp. That is what we cannot afford.

Honestly if it came across (or was in anyway) patronising, I apologise, wasn't intention

2nd point, fair enough, it can be both.

I didn't realise we had Chelsea so soon, fair chance we lose to Utd and Chelsea then if we don't beat Coventry I wouldn't be surprised if he went as daft as it sounds. The pressure with say 3 points from 8 games would be huge, even if we beat Coventry but lose the other 2 things would look pretty bleak but the 3 after that look a bit better albeit Leeds are playing well.

Understood mate and appreciated. In turn, apologies for being crispy. Just important to me that the points I was making were accurately portrayed - even if they were considered bogus LOL!!!!

Well maybe we should have gone a top sporting director instead?

As for who is a top manager yes Klopp Anchellotti enrique, Emery all of those have won multiple Trophies and would have been more sensible to back to the tune of 400m.

But I come back to the point that I made before a ball was kicked this season, too much churn never works out (at least I can’t think of a time that it did (I may be wrong). And the absolute cúnts in charge should have know that.

It would have been better to stick with what we had and added 2 beasts to the areas of most need. While giving the younger players time and opportunities to develop.

The team that finished last season had fight at least. And would have been bonded by us staying up We have lost that in my opinion. Spend 400m and added what exactly? We have a better midfield but have spent through the nose to get it? And Bents is still our best midfielder on form at least. We have regressed defensively and somehow look worse in front of goal as well.

It’s a Fücking shambles.

I don’t even blame RDZ if they are offering him a bank cheque book (without him earning it) of course he is going to take it.

it’s those incompetent backstabbing cúnts at the top that done this to us.
Just to be clear, I'm not claiming to know better than the people who are actually running the club; I'm just saying that there aren't that many people out there who'd be considered a safe bet if you let them the key to the kingdom.

If you're not going to invest in a strong structure - in our case, maybe because such an investment takes time - then De Zerbi is probably worth a try. It's as good a bet as any out there.

I'd even go so far as to say that, from the owner's point of view, they mitigated the risk by signing Premier League proven players only. They're not going to turn a profit on Tonali or Savio, but if they sack the De Zerbi at some point, they'll be able to claim that they gave the new guy all the tools to succeed since these players have already done it in the Prem.

My gut feeling is that if De Zerbi fails spectacularly, they'll go for Pochettino next. It's the last card they can play if De Zerbi doesn't work out.
