He doesn't just look off the pace physically, it is mentally.
He looks so timid out there. It is as if he is scared to reinjure something OR even worse, a huge psyche thing going on. He looks broken and I am hoping he can repair himself.

They now use the same semi automated system as used in La Liga and the World Cup. They use a sensor in the ball to determine the last touch and also its position. The line is automatic rather than like the previous version where they had to find the moment and manually draw the line.

No it says a lot about him. You keep avoiding the fact that he had never been a player who gets shots off or many chances. Not under Ange, Frank, Tudor or now De Zerbi.

I’ve said I didn’t see the thing you said you did
And I’ve said the supply like to him has been woeful
They can both be true
I also said he fudged up that first move when Savio got his shot off
I have also said that when Gray took his shot the only player following in, like a striker was him
The club have made these calls on who we have as CF. They now need to manage this
I personally think we create so little at the moment because we’re set up to control midfield which other teams bypass
Villa did just that against us and hit our weak as tinkle CBs

Sorry I meant delivering in terms of he's picking up the ball and running at defenders, pulling it back into danger areas etc which is what you expect from a winger. If we're using him out of position and paying over the odds then that's a club problem and nothing to do with him.

The through ball for the disallowed goal. Lovely slide-rule pass and great cross by Robertson (which apart from being offside we nearly messed up before Kudus put it in). It's good to know these types of play are in the coaching repertoire like other top coaches in the PL (see Haaland's goal yesterday).

The aggression we showed to keep going even when 3 down (yes, that should be expected but we haven't always seen that in the last year)

Savio on the left, finally. Nice trickery and he seems to be more incisive for the team there.


The bad:

Solanke's control - where is it??

The CBs - making Nicholas Jackson look good FFS

The Ugly:

The lack of movement off the ball by the forwards in the second half was ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING.

The open gaps in the middle for Villa to steam through at times. We are potentially due a few counter-attack based maulings if RDZ doesn't get the balance in the middle right. It is now mostly HIS team so he can have zero excuses on this front.

It was a long time ago, but my feeling in 2008 was that a decent squad were making silly mistakes, we missed Berbatov badly but lost by one in the 6 defeats. The focus of the manager wasn’t always on the PL. Those players went on to finish top half though iirc.

I’d swap the squads in a heartbeat though. Which is why I think we are in a mess now.

Really? Our defence was probably better in 2008 on an individual level, but surely we have more in attack now?

It's baffles me. I'm not some football savant but I've watched Savio play for Girona and City and I saw a guy that's plays very well on the left, creative, incisive and scores a bit. I see this guy played on the right where he runs into blind alleys and the best aspects of his game are negated ie. his crossing and passing pick outs. All for the hope that he will beat a man cut in and shoot. Something that he's shown repeatedly to be very poor at.

Makes no sense to me other than him being used to cover for Kudus' injury. But then I see RDZ specifically say that he loves his wingers to cut in and shoot on goal so I wonder then maybe this is actually how he intends on using Savio long term. Waste of money if that is truly the intention.
