Come on - Meldonium was something developed by the Soviet military to improve the endurance of their soldiers in the Afghanistan war. It's not something you accidentally find in your wife's Colgate. It's the same thing Sharapova and all the others got caught doing.

The FA went soft because they knew serving the full 4 years would permanently end his career.

As I understand it, the deal with Ndiaye was actually not contingent on Richy, it was apparently done and agreed between the clubs, however without getting into the details I heard, what we saw is what it was and there's nothing more we could've done to get the deal across the line (again, we were apparently right there). I know you're likely aware of all this and the details, I just wanted to say that for once, I do not think the club could've done any more to get either this guy or their first choice Gakpo.

From my reading, it was used more for faster recovery. It's very possible that the national team (from where his sample apparently derived) were adding it as a matter of their own protocol without players knowing. It was apparently a marginal amount, and if you read through, the amount found in him would not cross the threshold of a positive test today.

I am not especially concerned whether someone wants to ride their white horse into battle and wage war for a cause (which you QUITE CLEARLY wish to on this point), what I think is important is that there is a more rounded set of facts presented. You are already cheaply and erroneously throwing his name next to Lance Armstrong. That's the worst sort of conflation IMO.

If you want to stick the boot in on the guy from day zero, that's your business. I honestly think it's pathetic.

It's about morals and ethics. If you compromise on them, what have you got left.

It wasn't the whole Ukrainian team. It was him, Sharapova and a bunch of Russian athletes who WADA caught and banned. They were the ones who chose to use it to cheat. He's no different from Armstrong, Ben Johnson, Marion Jones or anyone else who makes that deal with the devil

You support a Premier League club. Who are part of the Premier League. Who compete in UEFA competitions. And have employees who play in FIFA competitions.
I appreciate your standpoint and consider myself to have some (as would pretty much everyone here), however I have to ask, where do you draw your lines? Because football today pretty much fails on the moral or ethical front if you want to 'full Mudryk'.

So you read about the ban, decided hey he lives close to Russia so he must be a cheat. I will bang my drum, ignore everything else and be judge and jury without knowing all the facts. Considering your goings on about Solomon as well, which at least had a little bit of weight to it but not much, you come across as pretty prejudice against these Ukrainian players.

For me, he is clear to play, the FA themselves said the amount was marginal and players today with that level would be considered clean so it’s a non issue. What does matter is how he performs, not what country he was born in

It's not a substance you get outside of the old Soviet military and their collusion with Minsport. You can't just buy it off Pharmacy2U. It's not an ingredient in toothpaste or anything you would ever inadvertently go near.

I just don't think we as fans can be passive to anything in the name of chasing success. Sometimes you need to be better.

Greenwood for his sexual assault. Soloman for his genocide cheerleading. Anyone caught doping. Those type of players should never be allowed to play for us on the self-imposed grounds of decent values.
