don't see any playing time for many in central midfield - we had too many and then we added two really good ones.

Gray and Bergvall are the same age too so its going to be difficult to keep everyone happy - unless we are winning all games easily

Gray should be Fernandes' rotation/competition. We can get rid of Bentancur and one of Sarr or Gallagher.
 
For those who have watched our pre-season games, is Bergvall being calmer on the ball or when trying to close down opponents?

Or is he still often rushing into tackles and giving away free-kicks constantly (often my impression of him?)

in the chelsea game he was playing as the double pivot alongside tonali - calm and neat but in a supporting role, so no headless-chicken-running nor reckless tackles

He has looked calm and composed, made some great decision with runs even those to take players off others, looked a very good partner with Tonali. Looked very good IMO

I’m sure I read a quote from DeZerbi where he said Bergvall came to him and asked him to play him as a double pivot, but he couldn’t guarantee anyone a specific position because he’s not stuck to one formation during a game.

Might have been part of the reason he was angling to leave
 
I didn’t watch the Getafe game, but from this compilation of his good moments he still looks to me like he has so much quality/potential. Really hope De Zerbi convinces him to stay.

Dont need to sell him now I guess with Spence, Lankshear and possibly Sarr going instead. Would have been a huge mistake IMO.
 
Well that first half has probably knocked about £10m off his transfer value… hopefully it doesn’t take Bergvall another 2 years to realise that continuing to give the ball away in his own 3rd will be punished by PL level opposition…

Err sorry to tell you Roberto but yes he probably will, it's a facet of his game. It's going to take a hell of a lot of re-training of his brain for him to do something that goes against his instincts.

The only way we got away with playing as profligate a duo as Bergvall and Richarlison was when Palhinha did their dirty work.

Have to hope that Bergvall is young enough to be moulded into the player that Barcelona once tried to sign plus we recruit someone who can keep Richarlison on the bench so he can go back to being a super-sub and we don’t need to worry about his lack of build-up play.

Compare him losing the ball consistently over his recent games and Fernandes' ability not just to keep the ball but use it effectively. One of the reasons I wanted us to sign the latter and was excited when we got it over the line.
