Once again... it is criminal that we did not set a buy back of, say 40 mill applicable until 2029. But English football always thought it has nothing to learn from the continent!!!

We have matching rights though, which should be better than a 40m buy back clause in theory. Even if he is a huge success its still unlikely anyone would pay 40m (and definitely not significantly more) for a Championship striker.

Either way, I wish him luck. Hopefully he gets a lot more goals this year playing in a better side than last year.

Happy to see him score! He doesn't exactly look PL-ready, but hard to do in your first match for a Championship side, haha.

That's short sighted... They would not pay 40M for a championship striker... true. But of Boro gets promoted and he has a storming season in the EPL then 40m will be the starting point for the auction.... as we saw with Kroupi.

The odds of Middlesbrough getting promoted, him having a great season, then Middlesbrough having another great season with Lankshear still scoring well in the PL are slim to none... but yeah in that scenario we would probably be screwed you are right
