Son only scored 4 in a similar amount of games in his first full season with us, he was 2 years older coming over from the same league, he turned out alright didn’t he?

Also Son done it in a much better team than Tel did.

Bale did not kick on until the late part of the 09/10 season which is just before he turned 21.

Kane until the 14/15 season when he was 21. You can go and read the Kane thread on this forum and the first 20 pages are littered with posters saying he’s not good enough for Spurs.

I think context has to be applied, especially last season when Frank treated him appallingly and he still looked really good at times. Do you genuinely not see the potential talent there, or is your view numbers-based?

I look at his national team involvement and see a 21 year old player with zero senior team caps, still being selected for the u21s - a top prospect "one of the brightest in Europe" at his age would have been involved at a senior level and picking up caps. Even for France - see 21 year old Doue as a comparison, that's one of the brightest prospects in Europe.

No disgrace, but he's clearly not at that level of prospect and has it all to prove. Big season for him

He is competing with Doue, Barcola, Mbappe, Dembele, Etitike, Thuram, Olise, Akliouche, Mateta,

Wish we'd gone for Ekitike, especially after he scored against us for Eintracht. In person I thought he looked good, for Liverpool I think he's been exceptional. Definitely a tier above Mathys at the moment - and not the same type of player. Having said that, I do like Tel's tenacity, attitude and effort. He has potential, and could be a very good option across the frontline. But at the moment he is one of those players who promises a lot more than they deliver. Let's hope he improves in a better team.

They’re not prospects though. They both won the Champions League a few months ago. They are both very much established as top players. Tel is behind them, obviously, but progress isn’t linear.

Young players establishing themselves early underlines their status as top prospects imv - Tel is just a young player who may develop in to a good player over time, the likes of Doue are young players already playing at a high standard with the prospect of improving further - that's what a top prospect looks like.

If we had Doue or Barcola, no one would be considering them simply ‘a prospect.’

Personally I think he’s got great technical attributes and a great mentality. He looks like a player that thrives in a stable environment setup to get the best out of him. He hasn’t had that at Spurs at arguably not at Bayern either.

He seems to have really bought into Spurs and even if he doesn’t turn out as well as I hope I really enjoy having players like him at the club.

I don't think it's a fair comparison. Son was already hitting double figures for Hamburg and Leverkusen before making the move to the Premier League, and he also had blistering pace. I just don't see those same qualities in Tel.

I hope he proves me wrong, but at the moment I don't see any of our forwards having the attributes of a top-class striker/winger.

Also, I thought you didn't rate Son? Unless I'm confusing you with another poster.

Never said i didn’t rate him just argued the fact that he became streaky and didn’t really add much more than goals in his final few seasons.
 
One thing I like about him, which might still even be underrated, is that he is robust. I don't think we should be selling players that have survived a couple of years at our place without serious injury.
