Cristian Romero

And he was also an instrumental in a 4th place CL campaign under Conte where he was largely lauded as one of th3 leagues best CBs.

He is a very good player, he has a limited brain at times, but people are dying on a hill with anything about him being no good

Pretty normal supporter reaction when a club - any club - decides to sell an established quality first team stalwart. We saw it with the Spammers when we bought Kudus.

Of course he is good... outstanding actually. The issue is not his defensive abilities, which are potentially world class at times... it's how often he is in a position to use them for us... whether because of recurrent injury (which miraculously never seem to hamper him when it comes to Argentina games) or one suspension after another after another....

No, people have been complaining about Romero for seasons and consistently the same reasons - his availability as you mention, and his constant stupid wreckless challenges and what not that put us in a weak position. He can put in top performances, but he's never done it consistently for whatever reason. It's not because it looks like he's going to be sold now all of a sudden people are claiming he's no good.

It's funny you mention Kudus, the majority of West Ham fans were saying he was greedy and didn't release the ball quick enough to which posters claimed was just them being bitter. Lo and behold within a month or two of him being here, plenty were complaining about the very same thing....

And look I agree, discipline (more recently) and availability have been an issue.

His talent though is clearly there. As you say, Outstanding
