I understand people being upset. But tbh to progress, the board have realised that we need to buy established players not just potential. We do that by selling big when the player being sold is in peak demand and we already have alternatives in place. Rather than only selling players who are surplus to demands and not getting sufficient game time due to injuries or just not being very good I e either getting low fees or none at all. We have alternatives in place for Vuskovic so it was a good time to capitalise on a player who was not likely to get game time. Sell on option then covers us if he hits the big time. This seems like a sensible transfer strategy to me.

I think this is the part that is missed with this window and sales like Vuskovic (and potentially Bergvall, Spence, etc.)

Spurs have not only decided to go for quality (regardless of age/price), but we are going for players suited to the manager (JVH/Senesi imo are not better defenders than Romero/Danso, they are however the two best passing CBs in the league by statistics)

This might be the first time a Spurs team has actually been built for a single system (in my memory), and some good players may have to make way for that.

I’d have liked to have kept him. But buying him for I think £12M, never paying a high wage, not having to expend much resources on his development and then selling him for £50M with a 20% sell on is impressive business. Shame we won’t be able to replicate.

You can if you commit to a general model around the players/style you tend to implement.

We are buying players that are experienced, technically secure, can play in a press system (both to press and press resistant), focus more on quick passing (vs. the lot of ball carriers we had).

I personally think RDZ has a chance (if he is what people think he is) to be here a lot longer than 11 months, but even if he didn't (let's assume he leaves after 18 months), the side would still be a lot more cohesive a unit than previously, and provided the next manager was reasonably front foot style/system wise, players should transfer across.

Graham and Mourinho were similar systems, but were 19 years apart

No we haven't, but same way we haven't ever fully committed to a squad change like we seem to be doing.

Long way to go re the window and the results at end of season, to me it comes down to the next signings. Fail to improve the attacking options or end up with a 2nd/3rd choice, it will be same old, same old, almost but not quite. Get in Savino and Kroupi as example, and move on 2-3 more players that don't suit system, it will be a real change.

Who are being groomed now as De Zerbi's successors then? McKenna? Groundwork to bring back Poch? Others? That's what we need to do to make that strategy pay off. A 10 year commitment to sticking to that course

You can if the club sticks to a singular footballing philosophy. Whoever replaces RDZ, whether it’s in 6 months of 6 years, should also want to play attacking, fast paced and exciting football that with our great football club is known for.

Out issue is we replaced. Redknapp with AVB. Pochettino with Mourinho. Ange with Frank. Even in the 90’s/00’s you had periods with Francisc, Graham, Santini, Ramos and periods with Venables, Hoddle & Jol.

Had the clubs managers in the Prem era been Venables > Hoddle > Jol > Redknapp > Pochettino > Ange > De Zerbi there would be very few players the club would want rid of when the new manager got the job.
