It doesn't backfire even then - He isn't the type of CB our manager wants, the only alternative is keeping here against both the player and manager's wishes. If he turns world class then we will get a nice amount like you say with the sell on, he can only turn world class playing which he wouldn't here.The only way this moves backfires for spurs is if he turns into a World Class player (which he does have the potential for) even then we will get decent sell on.
He didn't want to stay, we got a very good deal for potential and we all move on
Sometimes in football there isn't a right or wrong when it comes to getting rid of a player, we aren't selling him because we don't think he will be a good player- its just a good deal that makes sense for all parties involved....
