Agreed tbf. I'm happy with early signings that will be playing for us.

I'd be very surprised. He looks very left footedMy understanding is, he isn't actually a leftie. He's right footed but is so used to playing with his left that he's functionally ambidextrous (feet-wise). That's pretty valuable to have in a squad.
If we must make free transfers, this is the standard we should aim for - a top defender in his prime, coming to us off a good season. Really hope we get this one over the line!
Romero's ceiling may be high, but his floor is also low. And in the last season we've seen his floor more often than his ceiling. It depends if it's a replacement or just part of a strategy to get more experience in and more versatility at CB.
We all know where Romeros ceiling is. It's high. But he doesn't want to stay in my view. And we aren't gonna pull his level of CB this summer so Senesi is fine for me.

If it makes you feel better, view Senesi as coming in for Dragusin.I'm not sure about this. Selling Argentina's 1st choice CB for a big fee and replacing him with Argentina's 6th choice (also older) CB on a free and lower wages.
On paper it seems like more squad downgrading/asset stripping by ENIC. Replacing Kane with Solanke etc.
Seems like really sensible planning to me. Sell a player who is around his peak but had a poor season clearly wants out and selling him while he still has significant transfer value.
But replacing him with a player who is also at his peak, who is proven in the PL, come of the back of a great season and who does want to be here. Also doing that while bringing in net transfer fees of £50m or so that can be used to strengthen other areas of the squad. Not only that but bringing him in right at the start of the window so that the
Maybe after all these years Spurs are now finally going to act in a professional way when it comes to squad planning?
We don't need 5 CBs when we're only playing 40 games. Dragusin was replaced by Danso 18 months ago, he's just been fit enough to sell.If it makes you feel better, view Senesi as coming in for Dragusin.
And Vuskovic for Romero.
Seeing as how this transfer isn't quite completed and no sales have been done that's also a valid hypothetical to whine about compared to the one you posit.
True, though the problem with Romero so far hasn’t been his floor or his ceiling, it’s that via suspension and injury he’s rarely in the room to see either.
I think its time to move on from Romero, sometimes you need a reset as a club and for all involved, regardless of his ability, the timing seems right to part ways with Romero. And thats from a huge fan of his.
It's more comparing this one to Robertson mate.I don't get the 'if we must make free transfers' bit? Why on earth shouldn't clubs make free transfers? Does a player become better just because we spend big money on a transfer fee?
4: VdV, Vuskovic, Senesi, Danso. We don't need 5 CBs when we're only playing 40 games. Dragusin was replaced by Danso 18 months ago, he's just been fit enough to sell.

It's not a downgrade though. Romero had been poor this season (when available). It's clear he has no interest in being here and his attitude doesn't look great.Or just playing Moneyball to achieve the GHod of zero net spend, same as always. Downgrade at CB, throw the dice again at CF etc.
Doesn't usually make much difference in recent times does it. Any home draw and we are particularly unlikely to progressWho we got in the cups?
That's not the worst I suppose4: VdV, Vuskovic, Senesi, Danso.
Romero is vastly overrated, he isn’t even the best CB at Spurs.Or just playing Moneyball to achieve the GHod of zero net spend, same as always. Downgrade at CB, throw the dice again at CF etc.

Our squad needs major change. We can't sign 5-6 really top players for top money.Or just playing Moneyball to achieve the GHod of zero net spend, same as always. Downgrade at CB, throw the dice again at CF etc.
