***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur FC v Everton, Sun May 24th, 4.00pm, The Lane***

Ricky Villa
We are Tottenham Hotspur FC.
We are pioneers in British football.
We are different.
We are glorious.
We are exciting.
We never make it easy.
We always do our very best when we dare to do.
De Zerbi said it best; this is a Cup Final and the rewards are the very least our wonderful football club (and us -it's TRUE custodians and not those charlatans who claim to be) deserve.
We have been severely wounded for many months, yet we have somehow found enough energy to fight another day and place our destiny in our own hands because yes, we DON'T do things the comfortable way and we like to fly by the seat of our collective pants.
We know who we are at heart, and we know who we will be on Sunday.
Just believe.
Pessimism? That's nerves talking, that's wanting to control the situation to protect yourself. That's a cop-out.
Be BRAVE like the players will be, like the manager will demand.
And again, BELIEVE!
Audere Est Facere Forever!

Well that's fuked it.
Better buy some Southampton kits for Hotspur Way.
BAN.

Losing this one (plus Hammers winning) eclipses anything that has happened in our recent history. Winning or drawing this one rightly re-promotes Bilbao back top top of the list. The players get to choose which one they get remembered for, and shouldn't need any more motivation than that. They need to listen to their manager and take care of business.

Is Solanke going to be back - sounded like De Zerbi was a bit tinkled he "felt" something and didn't play Tuesday. I don't rate him but at least he can hold the ball up a little and gives us another option.

I don't think anyone who supports this club will have a nice weekend, at least until 6pm on Sunday. Everton and Leeds are in a similar situation; there's very little to separate us from West Ham. We will start the match with a huge advantage, now it's up to the players to show that they deserve to play in this league. There will be more pressure on them than on their West Ham counterparts, but that's simply because we are a much bigger club.

It's the last game of a truly horrible season, one riddled with misfortune and poor decisions on and off the pitch. Let's hope it will have a happy ending.

Its the worst time in our history mate..lol..still!

I admire some of the optimism on here already but I dont really feel very positive.....

As for the team, I would pick this line up... Nobody else will agree ,and certainly the manager won't, but im old enough amd ugly enough to be shot down in flames....

Kinksky

Porro Danso VDV Udogie

And now the interesting bit.....

Paulinha Bentancur

Spence. Tel

Bergvall. Gray.

So a bit of a 4-2 - 2 -2.... But keep it very compact and not too much space between the lines...

Muani is usless .

Richarlison cant trap a bag of cement.

I have no faith left in either of them...

And I was disappointed with Gallaghers total lack of imagination on tuesday.

So I feel that the above system would allow us to keep the ball a lot better and Bergvall and Gray have nice touches, a bit of flair, will be well away from the defence ( so not making costly mistakes) and run around a lot...

That still leaves lots of options on the bench

If we dont concede we stay up..

Come on you beautiful Spurs - whatever team starts!

He really is ramping up the pressure on the squad. I hope he knows what he's doing.

They mentioned on TVFTL that up to Tuesday, he's been super positive but the tone changed on Tuesday where he's now telling the players they are the ones to save the dignity of the club and themselves. He didn't want the coach meet before Brighton and it was widely interpreted that it might add more pressure (as Nicky Butt says it did before Forest) - now he wants it.

I have absolute faith in RDZ but this is ballsy and risky.

He's correct

Who would have thought we would ever be in this ridiculous position, at best we at back to back 17th in the league seasons.

RDZ is correct in putting the pressure back onto the players, they are the ones that have got us into this mess, they are the only ones that can get us out, they need to have no excuses and look elsewhere, they need to do it.

I think he’s right. This is one where we need to grab our opportunity with both hands and deliver our best home performance and result in months. Not rely on Leeds. It’s our last chance to set the tone for next season.

RDZs approach is definitely right.
They've had a month of arm round the shoulder, build the confidence, get the basics of ideas across.

It's put up or fudge off time now. No excuses. No "he played badly because of confidence" etc.
Get the result - no less.

I agree. And we’ve sort of seen the impact of his initial approach, which was also correct, tail off over the last couple of performances. He’s probably got to try something a little different.

However, to play devils advocate, on TVFTL they were saying that sports psychologists recommend you don’t turn big games into “cup finals” as it puts too much pressure on players and distracts them.

That’s why this is risky and I guess it’ll be judged solely on the result on Sunday. To be fair to RDZ, at least he’s not being paralysed by fear and is trying things.
