Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

You want me to unpick history and write a mechanics report for reform of the renters market?

Advancements of AI and automation would do loads of lifting in the market if people cared or had appetite for it.

TBF mate, thats not my job, but as a socialist its not fair to make others accountable for my investments of nuance of markets that also impacts them. Its like finding a poor man on the street and passing on my bad judgment in the stock market....thats not fair and the renters market is loaded towards those that have agaisnt those that want a roof over their head.

How we get to parity, well I will leave that to you and others to debate....

But the deck is loaded against the poor class in this country from finance...to social care....to messaging...

Im ok with the above, as I say there are more educated people to deal with the detail, im ready to enjoy a day off not refinance the whole country after a Spurs win and a belly full of cider

COYS
No, I was just interested in getting more detail of your idea. I think I asked a few specific questions in my post but the one I was most interested in was how many percentage points over the mortgage rate the landlord would be allowed to make?

And the divide is getting bigger and bigger and has been exponentially now for the last 10/15 years
The growth in wealth for some has been so vast compared to the decline for the majority
Money beats racism into 2nd placr in this country as the biggest divide in society.

The views on money, mental health, social care, rhetoric on inner city schools the lot, its hugely dividing.

I remember reading this forum when it was suggested that everyone on benefits were taking advantage of the system, actually that views come back into trend recently....

Not everything is indicative of the lowest denominator...goes for Race, Religion, Money, Upbringing....the lot.

I mean Silly thinks he is an expert on everything in the world. The guys a full on BS merchant. You were both in the mix at the same time. And you seem to say the same things.

Anyway, yes billionaires and millionaires. There is way too much money and assets sitting useless with very rich people, more often than not they have not earned any of it themselves. This needs redistributing if we are going to drag our own people out of poverty.
Quite a few people share opinions on here. Doesn’t mean their opinions should be belittled.

Millionaires meaning over £1m in total assets?. I suspect there are lots of people in the ‘parasite class’ on here in that case.

Was that really suggested?

I’m a reasonably high earner
My wife isn’t as she works for the NHS
I sell to huge corporates every day … I mean the smallest company I deal with now is typically $5B plus turnover and they all w at savings … everything it’s too expensive
My wife and her team frequently deal with people living in 1 room in a hell of a state too because of that persons mental health state
The extremes we see daily are some very off putting dinner convos I can assure you
Money is very dividing
More so in a wealthy country because people expect more IMO
I’ve been to some poor countries and the people seem happier because they don’t look up as much, they look within their world and where the sit
Maybe I’m naive though

Go top down. Find a limit. Either way, there is enough for everyone and there's no reason why people should be destitute. Working families choosing between heating or food. I see the people who attend our local food bank. Almost all working folks.

Why this idea terrifies the middle classes so much is beyond me.

Ive just come back from Cambodia and despite their history what came through was their friendliness and their upwardly mobile attitude and almost encouraged entrepreneurship....now I am not claiming there is utopia there, but there was a balance between work, happiness and life.....

It was my biggest heartbreak leaving Canada...the balance.....life needs balance.

This country has a 100mph attitude to hit the wall and also to coat off those lesser....

That has been the mantra of my life since school. I would not have made it otherwise, seriously, I think I'd have been crushed beyond repair.

I am all for the engine of capitalism if it shows fairness and respect.
I have absolutely no issue whatsoever with millionaires and high-earners. Some people have a real desire for wealth, and the subsequent traits and skill-sets necessary to get it. Fantastic, and all good. As long as society is fair and balanced. Where extreme wealth becomes an issue to me is when the imbalances are so disproportionate and unnecessary that they feel almost personal and subjugative. I do think when you hit the levels of a Brin or Musk, you're talking about people who have a degree of sociopathy (or maybe psychopathy) about them.
I have always said that I felt the Scandinavian models were great.
I think there is the same level of myth surrounding criticism of extreme wealth. It doesn't mean you 'hate all wealthy people', not at all. That'd be as lazy as actually hating all wealthy people. But there is a realisation that extreme wealth is increasingly causing enormous issues for most people, and that current policies in certain countries seem weighted towards a tiny percentage of the population...
