25/26 Injury and illness thread

My concern would be, even if we go manage to keep a good squad together should we go down, the injuries continue in a season where we effectivley play the same number of games as if we were in Europe.

I think the only way to really counteract it would be to have 2 1/2 players for every position. 5FB, 5CB, 5DM, 8AM/WF, 3CF. 25 Outtield players plus your 3x Goalkeepers.

The good thing is we can probably fill some back up spots and emergency cover for injuries from the academy if we go down. The gap in quality is too much for the PL though I wouldn't mind having a couple as an option for Villa.

I know it’s cool to rag on the club and players lately but seriously how could any club cope with that?

Doesn’t count Romero’s availability through suspensions either..
Every club apart from City, Arsenal and probably Chelski/Pool would be in or about the relegation zone with an injury record like us.

That can't be true, there's no way that we are double the next highest
It likely is true. Name another club where x2 of their first XI never kicked a ball all season, where a third and fourth didn't kick a ball since January and whose first and second choice left backs managed 19 games between them combined. Thats just off the top of my head.

I’d love to think that would be the case and in Phillips, Devine, Lankshear and to an extent Moore all be it on Scotland we have 4 players who have proven to be upper tier players at that level. I’d hope to see Byfield and one of Abbot, Hall or Oluesi involved as well.

Seriously doubt it, there's no way that we've had twice as many injuries as the next team. I wouldn't be surprised if we are top, but not by that much.

Edit: This is up till March 18th: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c5y9dd7wwxqo and nowhere near the numbers that are in that table:

FWIW here's the FT piece where those figures appear to have originated. Guessing someone used an AI summary which has mangled the numbers somewhat.

Whatever the stats, wherever they're from there's been no one in our position regarding injuries. How many teams have had virtually a full first 11 out for weeks/months this season?

Plus at the bottom of that FT table it states 'missing at least 1 prem game'. Most of ours have missed multiple and in some cases all the games. Arse on the other hand have had loads of single games missed by the likes or Rice, only real long-ish term ones I can think of were Odegaard, Timber and Havertz.
