Artificial intelligence

Could be..... solely depends on the numbers....jobs lost vs jobs created.
I think the real issue is you are going to see a lot of entry-level and administrative jobs go and the replacements will largely be graduate and highly skilled jobs. There is probably a perfect storm right now with a lot of disincentives in the employment market, particularly at that end at the same time, yes, AI is making these roles replacable with a bit of investment.

I find myself using generative AI more and more for work. Proof reading, summarising, data analysis, transcription - many tedious tasks are now done much quicker and with great precision.

I've now ventured into vibe coding; creating complex workflows and graphics, even small applications. It takes a bit more time to master, but the time I spend on it is well invested, IMO. It will make my work more efficient.

So yeah, there are positives with AI too. The downsides are of course worrying; more advanced deepfakes, an abundance of false content on line, AI-fraud, AI driven weapons, etc. etc. And the environmental aspect of such an immensely energy consuming artifact.

I don't think it’s plausible in any way to stop or halt the development of AI today, though, so this is just something we have to live with. We just have to believe humanity will somehow find a way to manouver through a world of more and more advanced AI without messing it up too much.

...and of course we must prepare ourself for the age of Skynet.

Yeah i use GPT a lot for work now. But as part of my job i now have to oversee the development and maintenance of a wide variety of AI and machine learning models, including supervised and unsupervised predictive models and Llama 2 large language models.
