Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Some fair stuff there.

But I think it’s often forgotten that under Levy we have had our most successful ever period of league finishes and European qualification.
What Levy needed was an effective Director of football to run the "sporting" side of the club. TBF he tried that with Frank Arnesen before the cheaters from the Kings' Road stole him. If he had managed that I think he would have been seen as a truly great chairman.

That said the treatment of him at the stadium by some of the fan base was both horrific and unjustified.

I still think Trevor Birch in 2019 was his big play on releasing football ops. Birch was more of a GM as he's showing with the EFL where he has taken the senior position. The other guys were more DoF's based around recruitment. Birch would have been much bigger in club impact at a time where the stadium was launched and we moved into this new cashflow model.

Dunno why you’d want me to block you. I was just pointing out that your post was a little bit hypocritical.

To be fair you read a detailed post of mine, found one tiny bit of it that you could latch onto and then turned a Harry nickname from another forum into me creating a "Harry persona". Now you play the hypocrite card on me. You should perhaps understand why you are getting push back. That is, whilst not even engaging in the actual conversation we were having.

In forum terms, you played the man and not the ball.

I can see why a nickname could be a very small part of a persona so I sort of get where you're coming from but you're making them the same thing above. They're not. The bigger point is that we're often reading personas of Frank that aren't fair or from a solid basis.

Anyway, I'm sure the other posters are probably bored of this unhealthy exchange. Let's move on and be Spurs fans on the same team

lol.

There really do seem to be some green shoots in the past few games now we’ve moved away from a stiff 4-2-3-1 into a more flexible 3-4-3 / 5-2-3. It really suits Xavi in particular, but also allows out outstanding CBs to be more involved in build up play and makes us less reliant on wingers to produce moments of magic for us to create.

Interesting to see us play much better football tonight without Porro putting in fifty crosses to a lone CF. Much more watchable.

It's beyond me to prove/support whether or not this is true but I believe that how we have played in Europe recently is how we want to play in the league - it's just the the opposition week to week in the Prem is much stronger and so we're finding it hard

I would settle for it given that what I want us to play is absolutely not going to happen under TF it seems. So if we can do this with the confidence and efficiency we've shown in the CL, then great.

Taking away all mitigating circumstances surrounding the game - the performance tonight was really good (as was Dortmund) - we attacked and controlled the game well in the phases that we were setting out to do so. Whether we can do that domestically remains the question.

Are we seeing a resurrection here? I've been saying that a few times, but are we this time?!

A much better match today. We're actually playing football.

I maintain that we will be in the bottom half of the table and win the CL. I'll take it!

February's games will smash that good feeling right out of you.

No, i maintain that it's just a case of our opposition in Europe just not being as tough as what we see in the PL week to week - we need to effectively implement our gameplan in the league before we can start to talk of a resurrection.

We were playing a team that had zero to play for tonight so I wouldn't get carried away from this performance on its own. However there's no doubt we have looked a different team in Europe this season and that includes against the current European Champions. I mean we was very close to winning the Super Cup vs them.

We've looked better recently. People lost their minds about us not beating a Burnley side that had also managed draws against Liverpool and United in recent weeks but we was decent in that game aswell.

Maybe just maybe things are coming together. Would help if the home support starting getting behind them aswell.

It's a bit unfortunate that it's City next seeing as a large percentage of our fans will want us to lose that one.

Agreed 100% and well worth enjoying tonight in its entirety because we are 4th in the final group phase CL table, and that is well worth noting. Credit to all concerned for both tonight and the CL campaign (especially given the fact our CL squad composition was so utterly ballsed up - not on TF to be clear)...

No worries there, no talk of the bit 'R' over here, but yeah, it is a night to enjoy. Let's face it mate, the bad times will come again either sooner or later, so when something good occurs I am allllllll in!

If you commit to giving him your time, and not trying to do two things at once, you will be rewarded.

Look at the game from a tempo perspective, that's where it doesn't work in the PL. Several moments today where we and Frankfurt were happy to sit back and let the other knock the ball around at walking pace in their own half.

The United game and the first Brentford game this season was the only time I saw a team play as slowly/with less urgency than us.

To make it work in the PL, we would need more tempo, and better ball retention, a lot of the other stuff could possibly translate
