*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham FC ***

I thought you said forwards score goals if you create chances for them? There were other chances but tel and obobert are forwards - it is their job to tuck those kinds of clear openings away.
Here's a "fun" stat.

We've outperformed our xG for by 5.8 this season. Scoring 31 goals from an xG of 25.2. (understat as the source). No other team has outperformed their xG by as much as we have.

Pointing towards our finishing being better/luckier than average and
that actually making us look better at attacking and scoring goals than we actually are.

What openings?
Name them.

Not sure what difference it makes, but okay:

Bissouma from the D. He also had a free volly from the pen spot, Romero did his best to put him off! Odobert header from about 5 yards out smothered by the keeper. Spence followed up with a shot from 3 yards out. Simons shot from the D. None of them found the corner of the net.

My point was the opening chance for Odobert and Tel. Watch it back....at this level you have to hit the target with a free shot that close to the goal, wouldn't you agree?

Just sumed up their inexperience for me. Both played well. Neither could tuck the ball into the net.

Players coming into the PL absolutely need time to settle, totally agreed.

No Kudus was not available.

I think Tel has probably been a bit better under Frank, but he’s barely played! And under Ange he was playing in a team tanking the league, and mostly as a loan striker. I don’t think it’s saying much one way or the other.

With respect, I think the bar is not only on the floor, it’s in the basement, except that it’s gone through the basement and is on its way down to the earth’s core, if we’re using ‘if X player scored that goal in the early minutes the team would have been galvanized and had balance and confidence’. It’s West Ham at home! Relegation threatened West Ham! To be clear, I’m not saying I want 09 Barca. I just want the players to look like they have any idea whatsoever about how to play together, that doesn’t involve slinging in crosses. We’re six months in.

And that’s my point. I can readily accept that players coming into the league need time to settle. But in six months if the intention was to have them play anything that isn’t just crosses, we would see it. Wirtz is settling in at Liverpool, but no one is saying that Liverpool’s in possession game is as rancid as ours. He is within a system where the intention is there, and he just isn’t executing yet. We are not so far off looking like we have any idea in possession.

The main idea on possession seems to be in position in case we lose the ball.

Was struck again by the positioning by our two deep midfielders in the first half. Very little running ahead of the ball. Changed in the second half, I mean we had to, we were a goal down.

Tonight’s LWOS has a classic opening 10 minutes. I probably paraphrase slightly.

Marcus Buckland: On the way out of the stadium I saw a crying young lad being comforted by his dad, who was saying, “It’s not always like this.” I wanted to go over and say, “Yes it is. It’s not too late to pick another team.”

Russ Williams: I’m heavily sedated on Estrella tonight and there’s someone in the comments saying they’re on their sixth spliff. I suppose we’ve all got to find our own ways to cope.

😂

Arsenal would have gotten 3 penalties if they were us in that game. That said, we were fudging awful! I'm actually shocked how bad we were! I have no idea of what this team are supposed to do in attack! And it looks like the players are just as clueless! It's painful to watch, and if Thomas Frank is still the manager next game, I'll be shocked. There is no cohesion, no plan, no structure, no confidence, no belief. It's just a fudging mess!

To think that 7 years ago today we lost the absolute beast that was Mousa Dembele, now we’re relying upon a weedy Simons who is too easily brushed off the ball and lacking in pace to progress the ball in that manner and seemingly every through ball he attempted today was mibrick to boot.

Simmons ain't the problem mate! He's part of the solution! But not with this manager, who hasn't got the faintest idea of how to attack!

Simons performed like an overpriced Bryan Gil today but hopefully a top level manager can help this journeyman convert some of his prodigious talent into becoming decent PL attacker.

This cannot be. How can we outperform an attacking stat without our 3 great attackers. Next you will be saying Romero and VDV have stayed mostly fit this season.

For a player like Xavi to work, players need to move around him, he has to have triangles that allow him to have options, he has to have other runners to make space for him and targets to aim for.

He, Porro and Tel are being asked to lump the fudging ball into the box with no target, so therefore they all look brick.

This! There is no movement ahead of the ball! There was a great example when Odobert had the ball, Gallagher went on a run ahead of Odobert, who played the ball to Gallagher. The most obvious thing in the world would be Odobert busting a gut to overlap again or burst into the box, but Odobert just stopped!! Full stop! Gallagher played the ball, expecting Odobert to follow him, but there was no one there! I was furious at the time, and that can only be because of instructions, because every player in the world would instinctively make that run!

The trouble is our recruitment is dogbrick. Xavi was a knee jerk signing after failing to get Morgan gibbs wright and Eze. As said earlier he is a journeyman who has not shone at any of his previous clubs. Bentancaur injured so we sign Gallagher. I know we are limited in midfield but is any of our fanbase inspired by any of our recent signings. Who does anyone think would come in and get this squad playing any better? Might as well wait until the summer after the world cup and see who is available and we have a fully fit squad. And why not give some of the youngsters a chance? Surely they could get a few minutes on the pitch at the end of games

Exactly what we’ve been trying to say for weeks now!

During a couple of our better spells today we saw decent progressive passes, line splitting passes even, where the receiver was able to turn, look, and search for the next move. I thought that was finally a sign of improvement, but then I realised that it was Gallagher, and he just hadn’t received the memo that this was not our way.

With the current injury situation we are starting our youngsters.

Gray, Simons, Tel and Odobert started, all kids, we brought on two more in Spence and Bergvall.

Frank is giving the kids plenty of chances.

Another big problem especially with our current forwards, none of them seem to have any positive decision making or brain to make the right pass, release the ball early enough or make the forward runs or passes at the right time

So two from attackers. Not great is it.
Not once did we have a passage of play where we released an attacker anywhere near being in on goal, not even to be in on the defence where a block was required.

With the exception of Gray, the others mentioned are not that good. I know Spence has played for England but does anyone think he is that good? Tel Odebert and Simons are championship level and if anyone can see any different they must be seeing something different drom me

You said we should give the youngsters a chance, we are.

When was the last time one of our academy players had more than 15 minutes in a premier league game? Simons has played at Barca Psg and Liepzig hardly an academy player. Tel played for Bayern. If you think they are good thats fine but I dont think they are anywhere near the level of player we need to challenge for a top half of the table finish
