Thomas Frank - Head Coach

I think it's way to soon to say the CR/MVDV partnership might be better than the Jan/Toby one.
Let's see if they can up the number of clean sheets first before we even think of going there.

Lot's of potential though, but let's not start sucking d!cks just yet!

Nothing to do with sucking any penises amigo. Do the work and look up the stats.
Remember - I didn't say 'were' I said 'might be' as time and appearances continue. Add the fact that until this season Romero and VdV did not have a real 6 in front of them, and it stands further as a real possibility.

BTW, your clean sheet thing has as much to do with the team as the CBs, albeit again, stats show they actually have a great ratio of them...

They have whoever won a trophy together
And personally… Jan and Toby are better imo as a partnership

Danso is our best CB.

Might be the best we’ve had since King
.

He is a fine penalty box defender -really good and really good at last ditch stuff- but comparing him to Ledley is exceedingly generous IMO. No-one could dispossess a player like Ledders, indeed, I barely remember him having to slide ever. Incredible timing.

I didn't say as good as, but the closest I've seen.

He doesn't just do last ditch, often it's first header too, something which VDV and Romero really struggle at.

He is the business.

I agree that when it comes to heading he is absolutely our best CB.

Let's see how it pans out. As stated prior, Romero and VdV have won one trophy with us and are vital in so many aspects of how we play. The numbers suggest that if they manage to match or exceed the appearances Jan and Toby made together, they will be special sauce (too).

I think the level is relevant, Toby and Verts put those numbers up in a team fighting for titles and the CL.

Its better this year, but most of the Romero and VDV partnership has been in a struggling PL team and a low quality Europa league campaign.

Time will tell.

And like I say, Danso is better than both of them anyway, should be him plus one, or play all three.

Good points for sure, however I'd counter that both had the likes of Wanyama and Dier infront of them, as well as a system which was fixed and stable for their entire tenure. Romero and VdV have played for 2 different managers with 2 totally different styles.
I would never play Danso over either personally, however I love the thought of a three as for me, it allows us to be nmore creative (that's how I'd do it with a 3 at the back anyway!!!)...

Danso played his part in winning that trophy too btw :)....

Me too. Vertonghen was better on the ball than either of the current two and both the Belgians were more switched on defensively and better in the air. This is without getting into rashness or availability.
Agree. I know won't be popular opinion but I dont think VdV is that good of a defender, his pace gets him out of trouble a lot but his actual defensive components aren't that great. Still love him obviously...

I don't disagree at all, almost feel like VdVs skill set fits a left wing back better than a CB. I actually think Dawson and King were a better partnership than the current two too. They complimented each other so well.

That's down to King, he would make anyone look great next to him. King next Romero, or Toby or Jan would have been ridiculous.

Hopefully he’s playing rope-a-dope and we’ll come out all guns blazing after the break…
